Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author Devney Perry comes a small-town, enemies-to-lovers romance.

Winslow Covington believes in life, liberty, and the letter of the law. As Quincy, Montana’s new chief of police, she’s determined to prove herself to the community and show them she didn’t earn her position because her grandfather is the mayor.

According to her pops, all she has to do is earn favor with the Edens. But winning over the town’s founding family might have been easier if not for her one-night stand with their oldest son. In her defense, it was her first night in town, and she didn’t realize that the rugged and charming man who wooed her into bed was Quincy royalty.

Sleeping with Griffin Eden was a huge mistake, one she’s trying to forget. He’s insufferable, arrogant, and keeps reminding everyone that she’s an outsider. Winslow does her best to avoid Griffin, but when a woman is found dead on Eden property, the two of them have no choice but to cross paths.

As clues to the murderer lead to one of Quincy’s own, Griffin realizes Winslow is more than he gave her credit for. Beautiful and intelligent, she proves hard to resist. For him. And the killer.

Same old, same old

Surely there is a formula for books such as these: simply change the town, the characters' names, the villain's history, and so on and so on. No creativity here. Nothing new. Just a fancy title to a same old, same old format.

Everything is neatly tied up in a pretty bow at the end.

Give me a real story, with relatable characters. Show me through the characters' words and actions that they've grown, learned something. Give the book a reason to be. After finishing this book, I feel like I just had spam for lunch. I'm looking for more storyline and less sex. A lot less sex.

Books like these start out strong...then fall into the pit of sex, sex, sex and more sex. The storyline falls by the wayside. The storyline gets lost among all the sex until it is nonexistent. Give us a book to remember...that makes us feel special for entering the world of characters. Stop making us voyeurs to the sexual antics of the characters. We know they have sex; you don't have to explain it to us in detail.

Should be more than 5 stars

Indigo Ridge is the first book in a new series by Devney Perry, and let me tell you, if this book is any indication on how the series is going to go, then we are in for one hell of a ride!! This book was magic. Winnie and Griff have it all and are super hot together. Winslow is every single thing I have always wanted in a female lead. She is in charge, but she doesn’t suck at all. She is strong but not overbearing, she is fierce but not tstl, and she is loving but not a doormat. Winnie knows when to be strong and hold her ground, but she also knows when to bend. Griffin is a man, he is possessive but not ott, he is alpha but not grunty, and he is a family man but not so much so that he can’t see the truth laid out in front of him. Together the two are pure fire.

Winslow is the new outsider and Griffin is the hometown boy that most people love. Together they navigate the new territory they both are entering. All of the side characters in the book are amazing. I love Winn’s grandpa Covie, and Griff’s Uncle Briggs. I love the suspense and the wondering who done it. The twist in this story was like that final sharp turn on your favorite roller coaster, you know it’s coming, you’re not sure what it’s going to be like, but it makes the ride all that much better.

The magic part for me, outside of the amazing story and writing, is the fact that Griffin has taken over as my favorite Devney Perry lead man. I have been faithful to the man that shows up in this story, but like an unfaithful partner, I turned my back on him and jumped on the Griff train!!! I am so excited to read on in this series. Do not delay, read this book now!!!
P.S. if I run away and end up in Montana looking for a hot rancher, don’t come looking for me! 😂😂

The narration in this book is hot hot hot. Jacob Morgan delivers in this book and his voice is panty melting. Vanessa Edwin was the perfect Winslow. I cannot say enough about the narration.

Got me out of a book slump! Griffin = sexy cowboy!

4.5 ⭐️ 2 🌶️

Let me preface this review by saying that I have been in a bit of a book slump this month. I’ve been reading a book a day for pretty much the whole year and then December hit and I just haven’t really read. I’ve started some fantastic books and just haven’t been in the mood to read them.

BUT, Indigo Ridge finally got me out of the slump! The mystery/suspense element really helped rope me in. I pretty much listened to this in two sittings. The narrators really brought these characters to life. I’ve listened to quite a few books narrated by Jason Clarke and I love him every time. Listening to him voice Griffin was *chef’s kiss*! Vanessa Edwin did a fantastic job voicing Winn as well. They were both fantastic in this dual POV, dual narration audio.

Quincy, Montana sounds like a beautiful town and I can’t help but want to visit the Eden Ranch. Griffin Eden jumped right from the narration into my mind and heart, where he will stay. Helloooo smoking hot cowboy! I also absolutely adored Winn, she is a badass who sticks to her guns and takes no shit, but loves hard! These two had chemistry from their very first moment, but this book is a little lower in spice than what I’ve been reading lately. That was okay with me though because what made it special was all the sweet moments between these two, where they worked to build trust and ultimately go from a one night stand to something that lasts.

I absolutely love a series with siblings, so I’m very excited to get the rest of the Eden siblings’ stories!

Side note, I also started watching Yellowstone at the same time I started reading Indigo Ridge. If you like that show you should give this a shot! The Eden’s are a much sweeter version of the Dutton’s but there is a similar setting and overall family first feel to both!

A wonderful start to the series!

4.5 stars

This is an amazing start to a new series by Devney Perry! So wonderful. I loved both Winslow Covington and Griffin Eden so much!

Winslow is the new chief of police in town where her grandfather is the mayor. She doesn't receive a warm welcome from some of the people in the community, including from Griffin. He happens to be the one night stand she had on her first night in town not knowing who he was. He continues to reminder that she is an outsider in town.

I enjoyed the mystery aspect in this book, too. A woman's body is found dead on Griffin's property, so they are involved in each other's life more than they would like. In the beginning, that is.

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Jason Clarke and Vanessa Goodwin. They are both wonderful and their narration definitely added to the enjoyment of this story for me.

A WONDERFUL 5 ⭐️ SLOW-BURN

When there’s a brand new series coming out by this well-loved author you bet I’m going to preorder it and hungrily wait for it’s release.. and I’m glad to say this romance didn’t disappoint. It entwines romance with a series of young suicides.. or are they murders? And the unfolding of truths.. along with the slow-burn, sizzles and heating-up of the relationship, is delicious and very enjoyable.

Griffin is a handsome, sexy and very busy Rancher who definitely isn’t looking for anything more than an out-of-town one and done. Winslow is the new Chief of Police, she’s dedicated and she’s got an uphill battle on her hands to prove she’s worthy of the position and that she’s not an outsider.. so she can’t get distracted. But, a steamy one night mistake in the back of a sinfully sexy cowboy’s truck, chemistry and the slow pull of a soulmate, turns a one.. a two.. a three.. and then more mutually casual hookups into more. These two keep passing boundaries.. until there’s nothing left but love. But someone close will get caught-up in the whodunnit web when Winslow starts putting the clues together?

Worth a credit? Yes, it’s a really enjoyable murder-mystery romance with lots of world-building and character-crafting as backstories and family dynamics are expertly weaved within the layers of the blossoming relationship. There’s sizzles, sex, drama and a dose of chilling suspense too as the dual POV story deliciously unfolds in a wealth of flutters and feels thanks to Vanessa and Jason’s stellar performances which brought it all to life.

Indigo Ridge magic!

Indigo Ridge is a fast pace murder mystery / romance. The characters are well flushed out, the storyline is believable and the author has a way of stringing words together that is downright beautiful. The heroine is smart, clear thinking and no nonsense. She's nobody's fool. The hero is of course good-looking, has a strong jaw and a rocking body. Plenty of steamy scenes. Overall a delightful read. I'll be picking up the next book in the series.

Unpredictable mystery with steamy romance

This was brilliant! After you read so many books, things can get predictable. This story is a mystery and I honestly had no suspects up to the end. It was equal parts love story and equal parts mystery. Listened to this on audio and the narration was fantastic. I am hooked on this new world and the characters. Winn is a heroine that I enjoy. She is strong and listens to her instincts. Griffin seemed pretty closed off in the beginning and his evolution was endearing. Their chemistry together is off the charts. Looking forward to more stories in Quincy.

I just love Winn and Griff

I love them SO much! I just finished a reread and I am IN MY FEELS! This was the first ever book I read by Devney and I love it just as much, if not more, than I did the first time I read it.

Once Griff and Winn got over their dislike for each other, they created a deep and intense connection together!!

This book had *just* the right amount of spice with just the right amount of mystery sprinkled in amongst the plot line. Winslow is a bad ass Chief of Police so she is a seriously strong female, even after all she’s been through. And Griffin….man OH MAN, just so much SWOON there!!!

Seriously…if you’ve been putting this series off…go read it now!!!

"I don't think I could quit you if i tried."
"Even if we fight?"
"Especially when we fight."

Great romantic suspense, reminiscent of Nora R

Winslow Covington has just relocated from Bozeman to Quincy to be the new chief of police. She's got a lot to prove: she's young, she's an "outsider" and she is (in the eyes of some people in town) the mayor's "nepo-grandbaby". Her grandfather tells her that she has to get in the good graces of the Edens, who are practically royalty in Quincy, Montana. Well, it certainly won't help that, on her first night in town, she has a spectacular one night stand with a tourist. Oh, crap, the "tourist" is none other than Griffin Eden...
Griffin is grumpy, doesn't get involved with locals and is very annoyed that the "tourist" he hooked up with is the new chief of police, whom he bumps into everywhere. To make matters worse, a woman is found dead on Eden property and Winslow is not buying that it was not foul play. When all clues lead to someone very dear to him, he'll have to trust that Winslow is as smart and as competent as he needs her to be. Too bad he can't keep her out of his mind... or his bed.
This is top notch romantic suspense in the style of Nora Roberts. Although to me it was very clear who the culprit was, I really liked how the story developed. It's heavy on the suspense but also heavy on the romance. Winn and Griffin are fire together! Highly recommend!
Narration: You get Vanessa Edwin as the sassy, don't F-with- me chief of police and Jason Clarke doing all the growly things that are quintessential Jason. Perfection!

Goodnight John Boy

Masterful perfect duet narration of this prelude to Walton'esque family saga. Well written, well planned, good MCs in a cop tale of dramatic murders on the family ranch. The romance is powerful, not graphic, with enough detail to leave no confusion of the passionate interactions.

Ms Edwin, the female narrator, is possibly the best American voice actor on Audible not only for this female MC, but when she voices other characters. Superb ! What a very pleasant surprize.

VERY ENJOYABLE

Small town romances are amazing!

I am obsessed with Deveny Perry books! This one had the murder mystery and romance all wrapped up and I was thriving on it! I don’t think I have ever powered through an audio book as quickly as this one. The plot, the characters, the links to Deveny’s book ‘The Birthday List’, I was melting.

Interesting the whole way through.

A really nice little novel that has a great variety of dialect brought to the forefront by the narrators. I did feel it could’ve had a little more depth & it brushed over the emotions a bit too quickly, but overall a good book.

A nice mix of romance and mystery

An enjoyable read. I liked that it wasn't too long and the performances were great (though duet narration would've been even better). The romance and characters were well-written and satisfying. The mystery wasn't mind-blowing or anything but it was pretty good. I have some minor nit-piks, like everyone was a little too insistent on the deaths being suicides even though shit was pretty obviously fishy but nothing that ruined the story.

ABOUT THE SPICE, is it open door? Short answer, not at first but yes after a while.

Before this the only Devney Perry book was Coach, which was very much open door so I was a little surprised (and let's be honest disappointed), when the first few spicy scenes were fade to black. At that point, I kind of just figured this wasn't that kind of book and stuck with it anyway since it was still otherwise enjoyable and relatively short, but then we eventually get smut anyway.
There's nothing really wrong with this and I don't expect every sex scene to be described I just thought it a good disclaimer since some readers, like me, might be a little confused about what to expect. Readers that don't want smut might be annoyed when it starts happening mid-book and readers that do want it might be initially frustrated by the fade to black.

All in all worth a listen if you want some romance with a decent plot to go with it.

Perfect character and genre pairing

Best combination of my favourite genres as a recipe for perfection. The compatibility of characters entwined with the suspense of where their relationship mixed with the suspense of the thriller searching for a killer was what it was for me!
