A spicy bad boy/good girl, close proximity, sports romance from New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg

Our first meeting? He stood me up.

Our second chance encounter? I told him exactly what I thought of him.

Our third? It came with a bet (he lost) and an understanding that we’re stuck with one another.

It doesn’t matter that he’s Alexander Hardy—British soccer star extraordinaire, world-famous in every way, and a certified sex symbol. We come from two different worlds and live in two different realities. But all we need is one month.

The bet: Help him rehab his reputation to the media and the masses, and in exchange, he’ll help my soccer academy and the underprivileged kids who idolize him.

That doesn’t mean I have to like him. Not his delicious accent, his sexy smirk or those storm cloud gray eyes. Not his incredibly fit body or his sinfully dirty mouth. Not even the way he shows up day after day for the kids or the way he looks at me like he wants to devour me.

He looks at time spent in my world as a penance, while I look at it as a way to leverage his star power to help my academy survive.

But as the days turn to weeks, it seems we’re not as different as I once thought. The man who cares about no one, has fixed his sights on me. With his time at my academy up and his obligations back home calling, do we have a lucky shot of working out?

This book was so good. I wish that it were longer. The characters were endearing, the storyline had a lot of twists and turns, but in the end it ended up the way I had hoped.

It was so good

A new series about soccer. Whitney and Hardy went from enemies to lovers. He's an egotistical player who can't believe that Whitney isn't falling all over him. He was supposed to help her soccer team but didn't show up. But he offers to make it up and she finally agrees for the kids. They have a lot of baggage to get over The narration was great. I'm looking forward to more books in this series.

Great start to new series

Wowsers—I adored Whitney and Hardy; the slow build was EVERYTHING and so dang sexy. A definite relisten in future. Bravo! Author and Narration

She’s dedicated her life to giving underprivileged kids a better life than she had … he’s an arrogant a$$, at least on the outside …

I was instantly dropped into this fictional world, with full immersion—very well done. The leads have chemistry and their bickering is super fun. The plot was unoriginal, but what isn’t. It did keep me company for a couple of work days, so no complaints.

🎙️ Audiobook:
This was … mostly good, just not flawless. So - his parts tended to be flawless and his voice-acting was lovely. Her parts, many of them had poor sound quality—as if she was under water or in a tin can. And there wasn’t always voice-acting, at times she came off robotic. I’d say 5 stars for him, 3 stars for her. Overall though, a decent production.

Cute.

I love Samantha Brentmoor - Gary Furlong is "new to me" but I really enjoyed his voice.

Wow. I absolutely LOVED this story, my first by K. Bromberg.

Whitney had a very difficult childhood, with soccer being her one passion. Hardy (Alexander) is a british football star on loan to the Miami team for a year. He also had a difficult childhood, although at least he never wondered where his next meal might be coming from. She had a wonderful mentor from the time she was thirteen. Hardy had family money, but love was sorely lacking.

He's a player, in all senses of the word. But when he first meets Whitney, he's enamoured.

They butt heads, and there's a lot of "he wants it but she doesn't, but she really does" which was just a little twisted, but Hardy NEVER pushes Whitney's boundaries.

They're truly meant for each other, with similar emotional scars. But he's just the tiniest bit ahead of her in getting past his. Her walls are built high, and Hardy fears he'll never be able to break them down.

It's just SO SO good, with some really poignant moments. And I loved the brief scene where Hardy finally lets his mother down like she's been letting him down for the last many MANY years.

This is one I'll be reading (and listening to) again and again.
