Its OK Glad for continuation of the story tho

Glad for the continuation of the story, but this one is missing something. Its kind not as good as the first book. The narrator is mechanical in her reading, almost computerized in some places.

Great!

This is the second book in the Configured Series. It picks up right where book one left off. This book jumps right into action from the very start. Avlyn and her friends escape Elore and meet up with Affinity in New Philadelphia. Then they make it to the Outerbounds. Elore is very futuristic with technology and the way people live. The people living in the Outerbounds have stepped back away from relying on the technology. They are living off the grid and are self sufficient. Avlyn now has to figure out who she can trust. Can't wait for the last book.

BEN!

I love Ben, I love how her relationship with her brother helps sort of unravel and reveal all kinds of things about the story and world that they live in. Can't wait to find out how the rest of their story unfolds!

Wonderful continued experience

The second book picks up where the first left off. Another fun book set in a different futuristic world with glimpses of possible tech! The narrator really keeps up the tension in the more intense parts of the story.

Transition

Immersed is classic trilogy transition book. Penner sets up a new world for Avalyn and brings new characters into her story. Hiding out in New Philadelphia, Avayn and her cohorts try to lie low while they figure out their next steps. Avalyn takes the time to train, not just her immersion ability, but weapons as well. Avalyn is also learning what life is like outside her tightly controlled city and gets to experience nature and see real animals for the first time. But this idyllic time period is just a holding Phase because the real rebellion hasn't even started.
I enjoyed listening to Avalyn expand her relationships with her characters. Learning more about Ben and her developing relationship with Aaron were the high points. Sanda and Garbiel were also fresh and welcome presence.
The book advances Avalyn's skills and relationships prepping her for her big showdown. his book is vital to the trilogy but not something one should read until they have read the first one.

Summary:
Imagine living in a futuristic society where your station in life is dependent of testing for mental ability. Now in the society of Elore, the differences in station and rank were preset, that is until they began experimenting a babies to try and enhance their minds. Avlyn and her brother underwent those treatments allowing her be enter a higher rank leaving her alone thinking her brother died. Avlyn is on the run with the help of other rebels with her brother at her side. Unfortunately the leaders of two of the cities know about her abilities and will go to any lengths to capture her putting everyone around Avlyn at risk.

This was a fast paced intense story with many unexpected turns that keep the reader wondering what would happen next. The idea of absolute governmental control is frightening considering the lengths they went to get Avlyn under their control. The freedom fighters are willing to die for their cause raising the stakes.

The audio-book version allowed the reader to immerse into this story bringing the characters unique personalities alive for the reader.

Deeper into the story

Book 2 takes you deeper into the story line of all that is going on! It leaves you shocked and astonished and wanting book 3. Performance lost some stars because there seemed to be a few audio recording very minor glitches in it!

The Grass Isn't Always Greener on the Other Side

This was a great continuation! After Avlyn escapes Elore, she finds out that the Outerbounds isn’t what she was hoping for and everyone wants to control her and her power, yet again. New Philadelphia is full of nature and color, but it’s not a place to feel safe in. She doesn’t know who to trust except for her brother and friends which leads to more complications and revelations. Avlyn and her group are very realistic teenagers always going through brave, scared, and stressed phases, but she makes plenty of aggravating decisions along the way. We learn more about Avlyn and Ben’s abilities in this sequel and the action isn’t as frequent. The love triangle between Avlyn, Aaron, and Meyer is progressing and feels mostly natural within the story. I can’t wait to see more of this technological world and how her story ends!
Brittany did a great job with this narration! I was honestly surprised that the narrator was changed between the first and second book, but the voices were similar. I liked that she was able to put emotions where they were needed, but could also portray the emotionless world as well with her performance.

Brilliant second installment

Really enjoyed this book. A great second installments. Lots of action and keeping you on the edge of your seat.
Averlyn doesn't know who she can trust but she knows that she trusts Myer. When he suggests going to his mother's hidden home, Averlyn knows she will as she is having feelings for Myer.
I liked the narrator and she sounded very similar to the first narrator in Configured. Very good a doing different voices for men and women (which is normally one of my bugbears) however there was a few bits that sounded a bit monotone. Not sure if that was on purpose because it's set in a world where feelings have been suppressed if it was then I totally understand. I'm looking forward to the third book and not sure if it's out yet but would love a copy when it's released. We'll done Jenetta Penner. It's a fab story. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review and the review is all my own opinions. It really is a great book.

Fully immersed

A thrill from start to finish, once again Penner managed to surprise me with the events of this book - I definitely didn't see everything coming! The world gets richer, the characters more polarising and I became more and more invested. Although I didn't enjoy this narrator as much as the narrator for the first book, I eagerly await the conclusion to the series.
