Publisher's summary

Earth is dying. Hope waits light years away on Arcadia, a planet veiled in cyan atmosphere...and harboring a dark side.

On the last day of Cassie’s starship journey to her new home, her father is killed in a mysterious explosion. Somehow, she manages to escape death - helped by a vanishing stranger with otherworldly blue-green eyes.

But his presence lingers in her dreams.

Officials swear the explosion was a horrible accident, but she’s convinced they are hiding something.

About her father. About Arcadia.

Orphaned and alone, Cassie begins to see curious glowing visions and soon the boy with the cyan eyes reemerges. He offers her one chance to uncover what became of her father and the secrets the planet holds.

Two worlds collide, and a powerful attraction draws her to Javen. She can’t say no to the opportunity. Even if saying yes forces her to choose between saving humanity or saving Arcadia.

The complete series contains all four books from The Starfire Wars: Starfire, Dark Matter, Parallax, and Zenith.

Narrator kind of ruined the story

Loved the ideas in the story, if a bit dumbed down. There was a lot of foreshadowing and it became pretty predictable. The author mentioned things that didn't seem relevant, but I soon figured out that meant it would come back into play later, even if it was two books down the line.

I had a hard time with the narrator's constant inflections. It made every single sentence seem surprisingly important. I just wanted her to chill out and give a normal, not ground breaking reading.

Excellent narration and story!

Wow! Rebecca Johnson did a fantastic job bringing Jenetta's story to life. The books themselves are incredibly well written, but the addition of narration really let the story shine. Highly recommend listening to this one!

interesting storyline

Since I bought the complete series audiobook will review the whole series. mainly because I wasn't really paying attention to when one book started or ended.

Overall the story was enjoyable and kept me interesting in it. There was some parts that where slow or very predictible but all the same enjoyable. Cassie should have been a bit stronger character, but seems all authors right now want their heroine to be the dimwit or damsel in distress. And, mask it as a strong female character. If she had been a bit more decisive or quicker to grown I think the story would have been better.

The other main charaters seemed a good matcha and interacted well in the storyline. Some might have been developed a bit more.

was a good story to listen to while I did my chores and other stuff around the house.

so dumb

I know this is YA, but dumb is dumb.

Most important scientist ever is blown up. His vapid teenage daughter wakes up 4 days after the explosion. Nobody will tell her what happened to her father. 2 teenaged boys are alternately assigned to help her as she has to leave the ship and move to the planet. One is the president's assistant, because of course the president would have a teenager as her assistant. She's unceremoniously dumped on the planet in a 250 sq. foot apartment with bunk beds, a roommate, and expected to get a job. Nobody has told her anything. But there is a mysterious boy nobody else but her sees who sets her heart to pounding. And meanwhile all she does is whine, or "growl," or yell and swoon.
