Story
Physician and biochemist Cate Shanahan, MD, examined diets around the world known to help people live longer, healthier lives - diets like the Mediterranean, Okinawa, and Blue Zone - and identified the four common nutritional habits, developed over millennia, that unfailingly produce strong, healthy, intelligent children and active, vital elders generation after generation. These four nutritional strategies - fresh food, fermented and sprouted foods, meat cooked on the bone, and organ meats - form the basis of the Human Diet.

Story
The path to becoming naturally thin isn't as impossible as it may seem. In The Metabolism Reset Diet, you'll unlock the key to rapid, sustained weight loss and lower blood sugar with a four-week cleanse that heals your liver and gives your metabolism new life. The hidden truth is that your liver is actually the key to a healthy metabolism. When it isn't functioning properly, it loses the ability to burn fuel. An overloaded liver can only store fuel as fat - which slows your metabolism and leads to excess weight gain.

Worry about cholesterol. Avoid red meat. Eat whole grains. Could it all be a lie? We live in an era of health hype and nutrition propaganda, and we are suffering for it. Decades of avoiding egg yolks, choosing margarine over butter, and replacing the real foods of our ancestors with low-fat, processed, packaged substitutes have left us with an obesity epidemic, ever-rising rates of chronic disease, and, above all, total confusion about what to eat and why.

Story
Over the past 50 years, rates of autoimmunity and chronic disease have exploded. In this provocative book, Dr. Thomas Cowan argues for a direct causal relationship to a corresponding increase in the number of vaccines American children typically receive. The goal of these vaccines is precisely what we’re now seeing in such abundance among our chronically ill children: the provocation of immune response. Cowan looks at emerging evidence that certain childhood illnesses are actually protective of disease later in life.

Sex! Hair! Rock n Roll!
Cold? Tired? Poor sleep, Low libido? Gaining weight even though you are exercising more and harder?
Then listen to this book!
I desperately needed this book about 10yrs ago after I cratered my health doing HIIT workouts and eating hardcore paleo.
I was lean, mean (angry, so so angry), exercise machine.
Then it all fell apart.
- Gained weight.
- I was cold all the time.
- Sleep was crap.
- No libido. I dont mean low, I mean none. Swedish Bikini team could walk past me and I'd be, 'meh'.
After a few years of trying to fix this, I came across this style of eating, but there was no firm guidelines.
So i started getting healthier but at the expense of at least an extra 40#'s!!!
Then this book came along.
It was like I was reading my own biography. Full metabolic crash and burn.
So after much effort and time all my metabolic markers are up (TSH, vitamin D, etc...). I'm healthier and happier than i have ever been. My conditioning is great, Im almost at my target weight and I didnt have to ruin my long term health to do it!
I wont lie, this is not a quick process. It will take some deprogramming of what all the social media fitpro's told you is required. BUT IT IS WORTH THE EFFORT!
I originally bought the book before the audible version. I liked it so much I bought a dozen copies for close friends and family to read.
Its that important!
Pros:
+ The audible version makes digesting the info easier (I can listen to it while walking, hiking, or doing dishes!
+ The end of chapter reviews recap and help solidify the information.
Cons:
My only con, and its tiny, is that the reader is not well versed in medical/chemical terms, so the pronunciation can sometimes be off. Meh. Small stuff.

The information presented here was certainly difficult for me to wrap my head around the first time I heard it but as the book went on, it all just made perfect sense. My wife and I have been implementing the information within it now for a while and my skin is clearer, my libido is awesome, sleeping like a log, stress levels are way down, even in this crazy world, there’s so many things that are improved. Do yourself and other’s a favor and listen to this book and buy the hard copy too to share.

Life changing book
I am a health and fitness professional that began experiencing energy and hormone issues. No one was able to help me. They told me it was age or they tried tons of supplements that weren’t helping. A friend recommended this book and it changed everything for me. I’m so happy to be eating real food, my energy has improved 10 fold and Kate has been a tremendous resource and mentor for me. And I get to eat ice cream, within reason. #sograteful

Keep An Open Mind
Easy listening, thank you for making an Audible version Kate Deering! I often drive long distances and love listening to podcasts regarding Ray Peats work while driving, and though I have your book, i just find i retain a lot more info while listening.
How To Heal Your Metabolism goes against what we've been told our whole lives and you need to keep an open mind while reading/listening. But you'll have a lot of 'light bulb moments' where things will just make sense. Thank you for sharing your work and research in this easy to understand format Kate.

Finally, some truth
Thanks Kate for putting it simply, highlighting the most important data and explaining how it all relates. I buy less food now that I know what my metabolism needs. When I stick to Kate's advice on building meals, I find I am well fed, sometimes can't finish, my body feels stronger and wants to move. Alcohol sets me back but having oj certainly helps the liver process it. I feel better right away. All in all I feel great, less pain, I save money and waste less food.
