Publisher's Summary

Alivia's father left her a letter before he died, begging her to stay away from the king and the royals. But it was a plea made in vain. She never could have run from this life, not when she might be Cyrus' resurrected queen. The king has arrived in Silent Bend and with him, he brought the end to Alivia's mortal life.

Uncontrollable bloodlust and an ever-shifting world rule her nights now. These twisted politics are deadly enough, but now her heart is the newest battleground. There's no hiding from the one who hates everything she was born to, a spy who embraces everything she's become, and a king who vies for someone she may soon remember.

The games have begun. The House of Conrath is growing. Blood will be shed, the bodies will fall. Alliances will be tested and old enemies look like harmless children compared to the new ones rising from the shadows.

Worst audio narrator ever

Why the heck did they use this narrator?!?! I couldn’t listen to her for more than two chapters. She has a lisp and sounds like she is constantly out of breath. This is the first time I ever gave up listening to an audio book and went to reading it on Kindle instead. Thank God the next book in the series doesn’t use this narrator. I’m so freaking disappointed they switched after the same girl read books one and two.

Amazing story, that still follows with twists!

I ended up reading this book after listening, due to the narrator change, and feeling as if the characters changed. Alivia seemed to go from 23 to 40 years of age, and the narrator made it seem to me all wrong. I returned the book, due to narrator. other than that it is great read/listen, and I'm a listener for life.

Love the series. Hate change of narrator.

She’s overly dramatic and to breathy. Sounds too old for the character. I️ couldn’t get past listening to chapter 2.

Overall good

I didn't care for the switch in narrators. She sounded older than what the main character should have.

I love this series

Keary Taylor is such a great author and this book keeps you wanting more. I disliked the switch in narrators but other than that, great book!

Narrarator change

It was hard to follow because with the narrator change she did the voices different. Took half the book to figure things out. The first one did it better.

horrible narrator!!

**Review for complete series **

I believe this is my first from Ms. Taylor and I was hesitant but the premise sounded promising and I was quickly running out of new book/authors read. I am  surprised to say that I was actually quite blown away. Here's why:
*great world building and character development.
*a relatable & like-able heroine and lovable and equally hate-able cast.
* All books were available on audio! Huge plus!! ( Only the 3rd, I believe,  had a HORRIBLE narrator, thankfully the rest were good)
*story kept me engaged from start to finish!!
It was quite not put- downable.
*can't wait to sink myself into more tales from this author!

My only negative,  which isn't really a negative for many,  is that although there is romance, it is VERY CLEAN. As in, no SEX.

There are some adult situations and settings but nothing graphic by any means. I wish this had been labeled as young adult to give me a heads up, but this is one I actually am not mad about it not being as adult as I usually like them. I was engaged and did not really miss the adult content but would've liked it more I think, if it had lol.

Changes

Oliva faces a lot of new challenges in this book, and she changed in the face of them. She gains and losses in this book, I did enjoy the book, just not the narrative.
