It is the 31st millennium. Under the benevolent leadership of the Immortal Emperor, the Imperium of Man hasstretched out across the galaxy.

It is a golden age of discovery and conquest. But now, on the eve of victory, the Emperor leaves the front lines, entrusting the great crusade to his favourite son, Horus. Promoted to Warmaster, can the idealistic Horus carry out the Emperor's grand plan, or will this promotion sow the seeds of heresy amongst his brothers?

This book isn’t so much a narrative plot where you have a conclusive beginning middle and end. It’s really a impression of the Imperium before the Heresy. To that end, it’s tinged with sadness as you know the inevitable conclusion. Still, a interesting read and would recommend.

Really enjoyed the story and going to continue.
The acting didn't always feel consistent but overall very enjoyable.

Amazing story and good performance

Clearly heavily influenced by starship troopers, but good. It sets up the Warhammer universe quite well.

A good foundation of lore

This is just the first part of a long and epic tale of the Horus Heresy, and it does a damn good job start to finish of sowing the seeds and setting the stage for the later events that would shake the foundations of a universe.

Great narration and powerful worldbuilding story
