A Horus Heresy Novel

Horus has revealed his dark plans, but nobody is prepared for just how far he will go. The force sent to end the Warmaster's rebellion doesn't realise they are heading towards a slaughter unlike anything the galaxy has seen.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's the deepest exploration so far of one of the most horrific battles of the Horus Heresy. You may know what happened during the Dropsite Massacre, but you don't know it all. It's far worse than you thought as the treachery is revealed.

THE STORY

Horus has rebelled against the Emperor by purging his and his brother's Legions, but what was supposed to be a secret act of murder has been revealed. In the Emperor's name, Rogal Dorn and Malcador the Sigillite dispatch the largest force of legionaries and primarchs ever assembled to end Horus' rebellion before it can begin.

But the loyalists, on their way to enact vengeance, do not know the depth of the betrayal they face. They will not be the perpetrators of a massacre, but its victims. The last hope of returning to the Great Crusade and the unity of the Imperium will die in the dust of Isstvan V, and those who survive will live in a new age of darkness.

This is in my opinion the best Horus Heresy book up to date. It is packed with superb action really depicting the scale of Istvaan V Massacre, fleshing out major pivot point in Warhammer universe and supported by lovelly depictions of characers both known through the lore and standard Astartes POV - written on a superb level. Not to mention that books sheds some light on the HH lore, espeically for one legion. ;)

J. French delivered the best HH book ever!

Not as good as Solar War.
As good as Primarch series.
Johnathan Keeble alone is worth the listen.
Story leaves nothing wanting, but it isnt a standout like Fulgrim, or End and the Death, or another one might name.

Keep them coming

As someone fairly new to the Warhammer lore (this is my 5th Warhammer novel), I have mixed feelings. Overall, I’m sure this is a great novel for those with a deep understanding of the lore and characters. I also think it would likely be better as a physical novel over audio book to help keep things straight. But as a Warhammer newbie listening during car rides, I had trouble keeping events, characters, and Legions organized.

This story covers so many different characters and perspectives, it can be very difficult to keep track of not only who is who, but who is on what side of the war. In addition to this, perspective shifts happen multiple times within a chapter. So, if you’re not paying close attention, or you don’t know the Primarchs, Legions, and key characters by heart, you may struggle keeping things straight, like I did.

The action was great; from Primarch on Primarch battles, to veteran dreadnought assaults, dog fights in the sky, and the disgusting work of Fabius Bile. And the performance was excellent at depicting these intense scenes.

A Story of Many Perspectives
