Good Introduction to Hindu Mythology

Much like Greek Mythology I have always found Hindu Mythology both confusing and fascinating. I have had a deep interest into the myths and legends but never had a good means to get into it. I found this book excellent for giving a brief introduction into many of the Hindu Gods and Goddess and even their view on the birth of the universe. This is the perfect way to start your learning of Hindu Mythology.
The book is laid out quite well and was unique in that much of the information on the Gods is told through story as opposed to just being given a textbook style breakdown. Obviously, there is a lot more information that can be told on each, but this gives a great introduction and provides a start for you to decide what more you want to research.
Oliver Hunt did a great job narrating this story. I liked his accent and his voice, cadence, and inflections really lent to the material. He makes learning a lot easier.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Very good!

Easy to listen to. The second half is more thorough than I expected. I wish they would help the readers with pronunciation. Many yoga books have strange pronunciation of names and Sanskrit words. I liked the reader’s overall style, voice, and cadence, not his fault.

A Hindu Mythology Primer

I really like this whole series. Like the other books, this provides a good, basic introduction to the central myths of the Hindu religion. I did, sometimes find it difficult to follow the various characters but I blame that on my own unfamiliarity with Indian naming conventions than on any fault in the narrative or the narrator.
If you're interested in other cultures or taking a comparative religions course, this would be a great place to start.

Interesting

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author. I see he has many other books about mythology, and I’d love to listen to more.

This book gives us a condensed version of Hindu stories, and has enough side comments to give me an understanding about the background or basis of these myths or tales.
I had no idea the Hindu believe that the earth was created so long ago. Amazing to think such lengths of time were considered amongst ancient peoples.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Oliver Hunt ). I think he did well reading these stories. I’m not sure what the correct pronunciations are, but it sounded great to me.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

A wonderful read.

Scott Lewis makes a great point to give a over arching compilation of mythologies, the stories of human ancestors are so captivating. You can expect to get a well digestible overview of mythologies when it is by Scott Lewis. Oliver Hunt's voice is so pleasant and listening to this feels more like a pleasant conversation. this is my 3rd read with these 2 and it is perfectly flawless every time. I highly recommend any of Scott Lewis's books for any mythology you might be into especially if it is narrated by Oliver hunt.

An Excellent Snapshot

I love hearing about other cultures and their beliefs. This book is an excellent snapshot on Hindu mythology. It covers the most important points giving you what you need if you want to do a more detailed search. The narrator did a wonderful job. I felt like I should be sitting on the couch with him, as a friend telling me what they had learned on a trip or the like. I really enjoyed listening to this book and will be looking into the other books by Scott Lewis.

Very superficial

Conception of Yugas and other topics not so accurate. For those who wants just a basic idea, it may be ok
