Publisher's summary

Laird Diocail Gordon has just come into his title and inherited his father's run-down castle and rag-tag clan. He knows the sorry sight of the castle would send any woman running, but is determined to find a wife to help return his home to its former glory.

Widow Jane Stafford is on a mission - return to England even if it means trudging through the Scottish Highlands on foot. Her travels lead her straight to the path of danger until a mysterious, brawny man comes out of nowhere and saves her - and the spark between them is immediate. With a target on Jane's back, she knows the only way to stay safe is to go with Diocail. But the real trouble will be guarding her heart from her newly ignited Highland flame....

I'll take one ☝ please😊

Great story with my favorite narrator. This story was refreshing, interesting all through the end. Wasn't just another romance. They actually shared a life outside. He finally met his match. I need to look for more. Thanks for a interesting story.

Book 4

Diacail and Jane. This is Jane’s second marriage and she sure has a chip on her shoulder. Diacail has some chauvinistic views but hey, it’s the 16th century. This story is about them learning to get along together respectfully. It’s And they have to do it with the “help” of his retainers. Very messy. Throw in some of the clan trying to kill her and you get a very convoluted story … but it is fun. The narrator, as usual, is very good.

Wonderfully exciting

As always Mary Wine excites and thrills in this book. I’m looking forward to her next book hoping she continues with the Gunn’s and the Grants.

I don’t know why this has high reviews

If you want a book that is insanely frustrating and the women has no sense whatsoever, then this is your book. I don’t know if the author is trying to portray a “strong” woman, but she just comes off as stubborn and daft.

Worst of the series

I loved this series but this book was terrible. I kept listening thinking it must get better. It had several errors or inconsistencies. Example. They tell you over and over how Jane is a 4th daughter and a disappointment because her parents wanted a boy. Then when she punches her husband she said her brothers taught her how to fight. I would recommend skipping this one. The first three of the series were really good. No effort or creativity was put into this one.
