This was a very memorable and entertaining story. Kay was a young woman who had a very hard childhood, one where her father ignored her because she was a bastard although he claimed her at birth and a stepmother who loathed her and did not want her around. At 14 she was exiled from her home and faced an arranged marriage even though she was much too young to be wed. Taken under the wing of the McFerson she was allowed to attend the training courts so she could learn to protect herself from any harm. After all, she was an English girl living in Scotland. And most Scots were not fond of the English. This is the story of her adventures and of her finding love in a most peculiar manner. The characterizations were marvelous, three-sided people, all of them and there were many! Rolph, the hero, was a strong character not only physically but mentally and personally. The only problem, and one that still goes on to this day, her was brought up with a certain expectation about women and although he falls in love with Kat he initially has to come to a reckoning that Kit doesn’t fit that mold and if he wants her he will have to change his view. It’s a delightful story and I’m sure you will enjoy it. The narrator was also superb.
