Heart, theory, and practice!

I've ready many "complete theory" business books, from The Great Game to EMyth to Rockefeller Habits, etc. This one has tactics very focused on healthcare, but the principles are broadly applicable. None other I've ready seems to get people and the power of intrinsic motivation like this one. So many good points: excellent stories, clear tactics, a unified and simple system, and a true focus on balanced outcomes for all stakeholders. This is not pie in the sky. It is clearly born of very deep practical experience with hundreds of organizations over decades.

Very powerful book. Great stories to illustrate the points the author is discussing. I will definitely be implementing some of these ideas.

making a difference

I have been a nurse for 25 years. I love that I get to take care of people and help make a difference in their lives. My husband is in management at the hospital we both work at and he was given this book to read by his CEO. He told me about it and I decided to give it a try. So many things in this book really hit home. I have already started using just a few small things from this book and in less than a week I saw a change! I can't wait to put more of it to use and I will be listening to it over and over!!! I hope our management embraces these concepts and puts them into action ! Thanks for sharing !!

Not just for healthcare

I'm at a pivotal place in my career and listening to this book really helped my focus my understanding of the workplace and navigational heading. Because this book is healthcare it's easily relatable and easy to understand the material. It's practices transcends industry verticals.

What made the experience of listening to Hardwiring Excellence: Purpose, Worthwhile Work, Making a Difference the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed listening to it in the car while driving to and from work. The narrator's voice was soothing and enjoyable to listen to. He placed inflection in all the appropriate spots within the texts.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Examples and the stories told provided excellent points of reference for one to use these in out work areas and amongst our teams.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really learned that tying work to purpose and making it feel like worthwhile work is essential to us all.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The story about the nephew at the end. Also, the story about the PBX operator who passed away..and in her coffin was her recognition plaque! There were too many to count!

I truly recommend it for all leaders!
