Publisher's summary

Everyone misses the mark occasionally. Everyone is operating at the highest level of consciousness they are capable of. People merit another opportunity. People are malleable. You should feel liberated. You deserve to experience what it's like to live a life free of bitterness taking up space in your head, heart, and life. To continue living your life, you don't need to wait for an apology. You lead a life. You can develop what's wonderful within of you when you let go of what goes on inside of other people.

Your feelings of kindness, generosity, and compassion are all increased through forgiveness, which also makes you more passionate and present in the world. Everyone in your life looks up to you as a role model. It's similar to loving oneself to love one's neighbor. All of us are linked. We have very little time left here on Earth, and what we do and say will decide where we will spend eternity.

It's one thing to claim that forgiveness heals and that it benefits the victim, not the perpetrator, but it's quite another to actually practice forgiveness. It is a process, not an event, to forgive. It's a choice that you keep making as it develops.

But why would you forgive someone, especially someone you love, who has wronged you? Sometimes, forgiving entails mending a bond that merits another shot. Sometimes it refers to denying anyone or anything control over your own life. Other times, you're simply prepared to purge your heart of malice. One of the toughest things you'll ever learn to do is to extend an offer of goodness to the person who caused your grief through your pain. One of life's greatest teachings is forgiveness.

A good but hard truth

Full of biblical truths for those struggling with forgiveness. The epilogue and appendices are definitely worth listening to

Very thorough, thoughtful

I enjoyed reading what forgiveness is, what it doesn’t mean, how it can be abused (has been), and the freedom it can bring. I highly recommend it as a good read for a difficult topic.

Great book !

If you have ever struggled with forgiveness then this is a must read. Having struggled with it myself, I thought I knew all I needed. The author gives a perspective I never considered but that rang true when he explained it. This book has been very helpful and I definitely recommend it.

Timely message.

Keller has always had a way with speaking to my heart and soul on issues that require poise and grace, but also a good bit of conviction too. I needed to hear this message and will need to continue to hear it until it sticks. I pray that this book convicts you and provides you healing.

Great book very thought-provoking

The only drawback of the audio version is the reader is very monotone. It is the same tone through the whole book, this is probably the best book on forgiveness of the road.
