Publisher's Summary

Filled with heartbreak and betrayal, triumph and fulfillment, The Right Time is an intimate, richly rewarding novel about pursuing one's passion and succeeding beyond one's wildest dreams.

Abandoned by her mother at age seven, Alexandra Winslow takes solace in the mysteries she reads with her devoted father - and soon she is writing them herself, slowly graduating to dark, complex crime stories that reflect skill, imagination, and talent far beyond her years. After her father's untimely death, at 14 Alex is taken in by the nuns of a local convent, where she finds 26 mothers to take the place of the one she lost, and the time and encouragement to pursue her gift. Alex writes in every spare moment, gripped by the plots and themes and characters that fill her mind.

Midway through college, she has finished a novel - and manages to find a seasoned agent and then a publisher. But as she climbs the ladder of publishing success, she resolutely adheres to her father's admonition: men read crime thrillers by men only - and so Alexandra Winslow publishes under the pseudonym Alexander Green, her true identity known only to those closest to her and creating a double life that isolates her. Her secret life as the mysterious and brilliantly successful Alexander Green - and her own life as a talented young woman - expose her to the envious, the arrogant, and Hollywood players who have no idea who she really is. Always, the right time to open up seems just out of reach and would cost her dearly. Once her double life and fame are established, the price of the truth is always too high.

A good book for a plane

Nothing deep or challenging but readable. You can pick it up and lay it down and not lose your place. Told in one voice

Excellent narration!

The narrator was exceptional. The story kept me listening well into the night - couldn't turn it off. Though the ending was abrupt, it allowed me to keep my imagination going.

The Right Time

A story of love and deceit as Crime stories a writer under a synonym no one ever guesses who it is. The author was brought up by nuns after her father's death and they play a important role in shaping her into the woman should becomes.

Absolutely heartfelt!

This book grabbed me from the beginning. I felt as if I went through life with Alex. From childhood, young adulthood, and onto adulthood. Experiencing her griefs, struggles, adventures, and successes. I was sad to see the story end. I wanted more!

Great book

I enjoyed the voice and mannerisms of this storyteller. The plot was very convoluted and difficult to figure out.

this was such a great book.

this book has the right amount of ebb and Flow. I love how it shows how a mystery crime writer started off as a young girl being mentored by her father, to the woman she became entered by many great men in her life. It show how talented she was regardless of her gender that she could do the job of a man. I love how this story rose, and I hate it when it ended great book must read

Great story

Some parts of the story line were probably longer than needed and yet other parts such as the most tragic event in her life were over in a chapter. But overall the story was a beautiful one of love, life and purpose. Thank you for sharing it.

Repetitive and slow

I was hoping that there was going to be a turn in the story and some excitement, like most of Danielle Steels other books, this just didn’t have it.
I felt like the story was stuck in Groundhog Day for 3/4 of the book.
