Texas Rain

Jodi Thomas writes the best books. Her stories are always good. If this book had been narrated by someone more suitable it probably would have been a 5 rated. I had even requested Jodi Thomas' books be part of the selections in Audible.com, so I was delighted when they showed up. However, the narrator made all the characters sound old, especially the younger sister. I was disappointed in the audible book.

Good Story - Bad Narration

This was a good book - probably four stars. It was entertaining and well written but the narrator was awful. She made everyone sound like they were 80 years old and had a head cold. Actually ruined the story. From now on, I'll avoid listening to anything narrated by Linda Stephens.

Worst narration I've ever heard

What would have made Texas Rain better?

I couldn't get past the first chapter, the narration was too bad.

What didn’t you like about Linda Stephens’s performance?

This narrator sounded like she was very old and all the characters had a very shaky old lady sound. The sound of the voice was not appropriate for the story line. Endearing if you're talking to your great grandma, not so much when you're trying to listen to a book.

Couldn't put the book down.

I bought this as light entertainment but found myself intrigued with the characters and the story. The characters ranged from widows, independent women, barmaids, a dishonest and abandoned landlady, Rangers and a whole family of bad guys. This was a very enjoyable book!

Excellent - can't wait for more!

A thoroughly enjoyable listen with good plot and character development. I searched this book out after I listened to another in the series and enjoyed it every bit as much.
