Publisher's summary

Despite multiple degrees and business success, in his heart Jeremy Strauss feels he’s never measured up. While he hasn’t lacked for men or women to share his bed, Jeremy has yet to find someone who sees beyond his muscles and perfect smile. Taking it slow with a lover isn’t how he operates, but something about the shy accountant he rescues in a snowstorm makes him want this time to be different. So what if Blake drops little comments here and there about Jeremy’s pretty face? Their relationship is perfect.

Or is it?

Lonely most of his life, Blake Myers is as careful with his heart as he is with a balance sheet. The last thing he expects is for a man like Jeremy to fall for him, and he can't help but wait for the bubble to burst on their relationship. When the stress of a professional crisis turns personal, Blake sees the perfect relationship he and Jeremy have built start to crumble. Caught in an ever-tightening web of lies, rather than wait for Jeremy to leave him, Blake breaks it off and vanishes.

Perfection is an illusion.

Jeremy doesn’t know which way to turn and for the first time in his life, he’s lost and uncertain. Believing he’s no longer the man Jeremy needs, Blake sinks deeper into despair. Both men struggle with secrets, lies, and hurtful memories until they are forced to look inside their hearts and learn the truth - that love is perfectly imperfect.

Don't miss out on this amazing story!

Another amazing story from Felice Stevens. Perfect shows us that what we see on the outside of someone is rarely what is on the inside. Jeremy appears to have it all. Looks, confidence, business success. Underneath all that he feels less than. Even with multiple degrees he is judged by his outward appearance. He wonders if anyone will ever see and value the whole of him.

On the outside Blake is a quiet, professional accountant. He works for a large firm and has dedicated his life to his job. What he is hiding is his low self image. Why would anyone be interested in being with him? What does he have to offer to someone like Jeremy?

They both realize that perfect means something different to everyone. What they find together is perfect for them. They really do complete each other.

I love getting lost in the world that Felice creates. When reading one of her books you feel like you are part of this community she has created. Michael Pauley does an amazing job of giving a voice to Blake and Jeremy. He added a whole new dimension to this amazing story.

Sweet and Steamy Romance

Jeremy Strauss appears to have it all. He's a handsome, smart, small business owner who doesn't lack for company to share his bed for the night. The only thing missing is someone to see past his good looks and physique to his heart and mind. He's not looking for a relationship but he runs into cute, shy accountant Blake in a snowstorm. Blake doesn't do one-night stands and forces Jeremy to slow down and consider something more for once.

Blake Myers is painfully insecure as a result of growing up with an overbearing and critical father. He can't understand how someone as perfect as Jeremy sees anything in him. Blake's self-doubts hit a low when he faces failure in his professional life. He's so embarrassed that he doesn't share what has happened with Jeremy. Small lies turn into bigger lies until Blake finds himself facing personal failure as well as professional.

Blake and Jeremy are opposites who bring out the best in each other. They have great chemistry in and out of bed and soon find themselves falling head over heels in love. Although they enjoy talking about their work, current events and politics, they have difficulty communicating their emotional needs with each other. Can they learn to be honest with each other if they want their relationship to stand a chance?

This fourth installment in the Soulmates series by Felice Stevens can be read as a stand alone, but it features Noah (Jeremy's brother) and Oren from One Call Away. You don't need to read One Call Away first to understand and enjoy Perfect because Felice does a good job embedding necessary details from that story into this one without taking away from plot or character development, The story lines from the two novels interestingly coincide a bit, which I really enjoyed.

Perfect for Each Other

Story 4.75 Stars Narration 5 Stars
Jimmy has a strong outgoing personality which fits him in his role of a Gym owner. He loves his business and it suits him. Jeremy is jaded and doesn't believe people should allow love to mess up their lives. He is a smart guy but due to the nature of his job many view him as not too bright. The one man that sees him beyond his physical persona is Blake, a shy and introverted accountant. Blake does not feel he is anything special and is surprised that Jeremy is attracted to him. Jeremy appreciates how the sensitive Blake views him differently than the rest of the world. The men click even though they both sit on a powder keg of internal self-doubts. The writing is flawless as usual and the pages turned as I felt for the two men navigating their insecurities to try to build a meaningful relationship. Slowly they attempt to make things work but in life nothing is perfect and the men have to face their own fears. Another winner from Felice that shows us perfection is in the eye of the beholder. I highly recommend this addictive romance.
Narration by Michael Pauley
Mr Pauley offers such a comfortable rendering of Ms. Steven's romance. The voice between the two men were so different and I love when the characters are so easily recognizable. Jeremy was my favorite as I enjoyed the New York accent. Mr Pauly is one of my favorite narrators and this audio was a treat for my ears. I love being able to totally escape into the story and this presentation did not disappoint. I highly recommend this captivating narrative of men so different yet so perfectly matched. Happy listening!

Loved it

I was so excited for Jeremy’s story, I’ve been looking forward to it since meeting him in “One Call Away” in this same Soulmates series.

Jeremy is an independent gym owner, but he’s not just a great body and cute face. He has a fitness degree and his MBA and he’s no dummy about owning and developing his own business. He always feels like he has to prove himself because he’s never felt good enough in his Mom’s eye, who was so preoccupied with his brother Noah’s modeling success.

Blake is a CPA and Accountant working for a boutique firm handling the accounts and audits. Being successful at his job has always been important to Blake because his father has always told him he’s not good enough and never will be. He carries that in the back of his mind. An introvert, he never thinks he’s be good enough for anyone. Especially not Jeremy.

Blake meets Jeremy on a sidewalk in New York where it’s violently snowing, his umbrella is failing him and his hands are full of grocery bags. Jeremy invites him up to his nearby apartment to get out of the cold and dry off. After hitting it off from their first meeting, Blake still can’t believe someone as amazing and perfect as Jeremy wants to be with him.

After several months of dating, Blake is blindsided by his Accounting firm when they terminate him over a disagreement in handling of an audit of an important customer. The firing has left Blake reeling and has made his already low self esteem and self worth even lower. Blake is too ashamed of having lost his job to tell Jeremy and the stress of lying causes Blake to break things off with Jeremy. He is completely caught off-guard by Blake leaving him. Blake leaving has resurfaced old hurts in Jeremy of not being good enough. How can Blake and Jeremy put aside their old hurts to find each other again?

The narrator of this book was fantastic. Michael Pauley is one of my favorite narrators because he can really make a story come alive.

What is Best

The moral of the story is there is no perfect but you might just be the best for each other. There were times were I got a bit upset at both of these guys and felt like say "oh, gosh" just talk to each other already. It took these guys a while to finally work things out with each other. The angst in this story is internal. But overall I was happy with the story and the end was worth the journey.
I listened to the audio version and enjoyed it very much.
