Publisher's Summary

Meet Me at Beachcomber Bay is a romantic, funny and pause-resisting new novel about love and friendship from Jill Mansell, best-selling author of The One You Really Want and You and Me, Always. Perfect for anyone who loves Lucy Diamond, Milly Johnson and Katie Fforde.

Love is in the air in St Carys, but you'd never know it - the people of this seaside town are very good at keeping secrets....

The man Clemency loves belongs to someone else. She has to hide her true feelings - but when she ropes in an unsuspecting friend to help, wires start to get crossed.

For the first time in Ronan's life his charm has failed him in winning over the woman he wants. Loving her from afar appears to be his only option.

Belle seems to have the perfect boyfriend, but something isn't quite right. And now a long-buried secret is slowly rising to the surface.

The truth has a funny way of revealing itself, and when it does St Carys will be a very different place indeed....

I loved the story. The only part that was a slight problem was the narrators boys voices.

    "A great relaxing romantic story"

Predictable in some ways and surprising in others. Easy to escape into the story. I would recommend this book.

    Story
    "Unbelievable and disjointed"

This book has the potential to have been a good chick lit - light hearted listen. It was too far fetched to be believable and disjointed. It was like wading through treacle to get to the end.

A very easy listener. A nice mix of characters - some likeable, some not - and some interesting twists!

I really enjoyed this book and the narrating of it.

    Story
"Engaging romance, unrealistic but who cares!"

The story takes a while to get going, but once it does it's engaging enough to draw you into a feel-good, summer read.

    Story
"Very juvenile bit of chic lit!"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator sounds about 17 yrs old.

If you’ve listened to books by Jill Mansell before, how does this one compare?

I always thought Jill Mansell wrote books for a more mature audience. I misjudged her. Perhaps I confused the author with somebody else.

How could the performance have been better?

    The narrator sounding more grownup

Do you think Meet Me at Beachcomber Bay needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    Not for me

    Story
    "Not bad"

The book was very well narrated with good pitch and pausing. I enjoyed the story and the characters were fun if a little unbelievable at times. However that being said this is fiction and escapism not real life so artist licence is allowed. I do wish a couple more things had been explained better though throughout the story. For example Kate's grandparents reaction to the news when they arrived home from holiday. I did find the book fun though and would recommend it for a light-hearted listening experience, easy to follow and would be ideal to listen to through your earphones lying on the beach. A reasonably good book all in all.
