Publisher's summary

The latest New York Times best seller by the beloved author of Saving CeeCee Honeycutt.

Beth Hoffman’s best-selling debut, Saving CeeCee Honeycutt, won admirers and acclaim with its heartwarming story and cast of unforgettably quirky characters. Now her flair for evocative settings and richly drawn Southern personalities shines again in her compelling second novel, Looking for Me.

Teddi Overman found her life’s passion in turning other people’s castoffs into beautifully restored antiques. Leaving her hardscrabble Kentucky childhood behind, Teddi opens her own store in Charleston. She builds a life as unexpected and quirky as her many customers, but nothing alleviates the haunting uncertainty she’s felt since her brother Josh mysteriously disappeared. When signs emerge that Josh might still be alive, Teddi returns to Kentucky, embarking on a journey that could help her come to terms with her shattered family - and find herself.

Critic reviews

Winner of the Ohioana Book Award for fiction, 2014

"Hoffman's novel of a woman putting the pieces of her family's secrets together combines a deep dramatic impact with Southern charm." (Publishers Weekly)

"Hoffman has a good ear for dialogue, and Teddie and her friends are realistic, appealing characters. Perfect for fans of family-centered women’s fiction, this book will have special appeal to readers interested in antiques and 'shabby chic' style." (Booklist)

It is like listening to a friend....

If you want to listen to a book that tugs not only at your heart, but is like listening to a new friend tell you their story--then get this book. While some may get frustrated with the back and forth between childhood and adulthood, just remember no life story is ever told chronological. It is told piece by piece-memory by memory. Beth Hoffman is a great story weaver--as story teller does not capture the essence of her talent.
Jenna's performance provides your imagination an opportunity to make the movie in your head. It is 3D without the hype. She adds dimension to each character, right down to all creatures great and small. And if you haven't listened to Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt, then add it to your list. Both are books that I could listen to over and over again. In fact, I have listened to Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt about four times in the last year. It is like watching your favorite movie, you never tire of the characters, the story, the way it moves your soul. Looking For Me is right there along side Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt. If audiobooks could ever look tattered, dog-eared, and tear-stained...

A sweet gentle story.....

This is a sweet gentle story of a country girl that finds herself in a big city and makes a life for herself in restoring antique furniture..
It was an undulating gentle and calm story. A book that wont keep you sitting gripping the edges of your chair, but will keep you captivated wit its gentle twists and turns filled with real people.. I wasn't dissapointed! Jenna lamia as the narrator did the story proud with her beautiful expressive narration.

As always this narrator does a terrific job

This is a wonderful story brought beautifully to life by the narrator. The focus of the story is a young woman named Teddi and her relationship to her friends and family. By the end of the book I felt like Teddi was a good friend.

You wont want stop listening ...

If you could sum up Looking for Me in three words, what would they be?

A great story expertly narrated. Highly recommended.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I particularly enjoy how the story's main character takes us through her life journeys and shares how her relationships change .... How they evolve from beginning to end. I nearly cried when she demonstrates her bravery and heartache when she moves from the family farm.

Poetry in the novel

I enjoyed the book immensely. It was beautifully paced and well structured story.
I loved the main character and hoped to aspire to her beautiful nature and soul, that would see beauty and value even in the seemingly least deserving of it.

The book had a few emotional moments, tugging at your heart, but at the same time uplifting, leaving you to ponder on our lives and relationships.

Narration was outstanding!!! I think it actually made the book that much more enjoyable!
Hope to see more novels from this author on Audible.
