Publisher's Summary

The Lights of Sugarberry Cove is a charming, delightful story of family, healing, love, and small-town Southern charm by USA Today best-selling author Heather Webber.

Sadie Way Scott has been avoiding her family and hometown of Sugarberry Cove, Alabama, since she nearly drowned in the lake just outside her mother’s B&B. Eight years later, Sadie is the host of a much-loved show about Southern cooking and family, but despite her success, she wonders why she was saved. What is she supposed to do?

Sadie’s sister, Leala Clare, is still haunted by the guilt she feels over the night her sister almost died. Now, at a crossroads in her marriage, Leala has everything she ever thought she wanted - so why is she so unhappy?

When their mother suffers a minor heart attack just before Sugarberry Cove’s famous water lantern festival, the two sisters come home to run the inn while she recovers. It’s the last place either of them wants to be, but with a little help from the inn’s quirky guests, the sisters may come to terms with their strained relationships, accept the past, and rediscover a little lake magic.

Very Annoying

I read Midnight At the Blackbird Cafe & loved it so I thought I would give this a try. Both books center around mother/daughter issues and divisions. The characters are more balanced and enjoyable in Blackbird Cafe, but in this book the daughters are whiny, avoidant and annoying. Bah! Are all of her books this way? Why doesn't the author work out her own mother issues without forcing them onto her books and readership! Bah.

Magical and Beautiful!

Loved every minute of this sweet story! Combines Southern charm with a little lake magic. This is a heart warming story of love, loss and family struggles. A family who finds their way back to each other and learn how to heal and get back on a happy, healthy path with many twists, turns and surprising magic along the way! Another masterpiece by Heather Webber!

Tears, Tears, Tears

These characters sure do cry A LOT. My eyes brimmed with tears; tears filled my eyes; tears spilled over. You get the point. Sure, some crying will happen in life but the two sisters cried or sobbed about EVERYTHING. I almost quit listening about halfway through their tears. Unfortunately, I am compelled to finish what I started. The story was decent; however, not as good as her other books.

Typical Southern Small Town Book

Not my cup of tea. Too predictable southern town saccharine and quirky silly characters

Very sappy and over dramatic narration.

After reading the reviews I thought I'd give this book a try. The story in itself was alright however, once I started listening to the narration for the L.C. character, I almost stopped listening. I'm not sure which narrator was used for that character but she was so over dramatic with her reading it got extremely annoying. Some people might enjoy that type of drama but I do not. I gave the performance 2 stars because I didn't mind the narrator for Sadie; except for the male voices which were horrible.

The story was an interesting concept. The characters were very unlikable, except for Sadie. L.C. was such a helicopter mother with her son, I wanted to skip those parts but 1/2 of the book would have been skipped. That character was so wrapped up in her son, it became nauseating. The mother character, I can't even remember her name, was one of the most selfish characters I've read. There was not one redeeming quality about her. The other characters didn't make an impression on me and the male voice narration was so bad it was difficult to try to like them.

After reading this review, you can take your own chance on this one. It appears I am one of the few that didn't enjoy this book. Way too sappy and over dramatic narration for me.

My new favorite.

I am writing this with tears in my eyes. This is the best story I have ever listened to. I can’t get it out of my heart and I hope it never leaves.

Too Much

It was a nice story, there just seemed to be too much of it. Several times I thought the story was over only to look at the app and see that there were still hours left. I finally fast forwarded through the last few chapters because I could take it anymore. It just didn’t keep my interest.

Super Sappy

This book is sweet and clean and very sappy. it's not worth full price but if you want to listen to a fluffy tale to take a break from more serious reads, this is a good choice.
I think there was some weird editing issues going on as well where I suspect chunks of the story was edited out causing the reader or listener to have to catch up by piecing what must have happened. This weirdness happened at least 3 times.
