Publisher's summary

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • In this spellbinding novel, Lestat, rebel outlaw, addresses the tribe of vampires, telling us the mesmerizing story of how he became prince of the vampire world, and of the formation of the Blood Communion, and how his vision for the Children of the Universe to thrive as one, came to be.

Lestat takes us from his ancestral castle in the snow-covered mountains of France to the verdant wilds of lush Louisiana, with its lingering fragrances of magnolias and night jasmine; from the far reaches of the Pacific’s untouched islands to the 18th-century city of St. Petersburg and the court of the Empress Catherine. He speaks of his fierce battle of wits and words with the mysterious Rhoshamandes, proud Child of the Millennia, reviled outcast for his senseless slaughter of the legendary ancient vampire Maharet, avowed enemy of Queen Akasha, who refuses to live in harmony at court and who threatens all Lestat has dreamt of....

Narrator is a huge disappointment

I have listened to and read all of Anne Rice's books and I am so upset they switched narrators. Completely ruins years of character growth, There is no distinction between character voices let alone accents. I burst out laughing multiple times because I cannot take this narrator seriously.

Narrator isn't as bad as everyone says!

I am listening to the book now and I am truly enjoying it. The narrator isn't as good as the narrator on the other volumes but I find him pleasant enough and I lose myself in the story.

I want people to know that this narrator is just fine.

The narrator wasn't bad

a lot of reviews complain about the change of narrator. It was a little disconcerting to get used to his voice at first, but it made sense given that in the beginning of the book she describes Lestat as having a basic American accent. It would have been a little weird to have Simon Vance, as much as I love his voice, reading the story after that statement.

Wrong Narrator

This narrator was a poor choice for an Anne Rice. He is far too bubbly. Its like Im listening to a bedtime story being read to a child.

would have been better with a different narrator

The story felt like it was forced. so much of it was not necessary.

IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!

I was a bit turned off of this due to the change in narrators - and it's a HUGE change! It took me several chapters to get used to the extremely different voice of Lestat - and it seemed to take the narrator a while to get into the book and not sound like he was reading it. That being said, it was still a great "finale" to the Vampire Chronicles. It touched on the beloved characters of past books, which was a nice surprise and a great reminder of who we've read about and loved. It also did not disappoint in the drama, mystery, and suspense arenas either!! I'll miss hearing of the adventures and misadventures of Lestat and his friends. I'm also left wondering about the "Replimoids" and what their future will be and how they will impact Earth! But all in all it was a very satisfying conclusion to this series!

Meh

Clearly Anne Rice knew this was the last of the chronicles. She gave us a true finality. Rest In Peace, and thank you for the universe you created. I wish she used the previous narrator. This guy, I guess he is family, could narrate well enough. He just wasn’t a convincing Lestat. He wasn’t a convincing voice for any of her characters. He has a voice for camp, or the snowman from Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Anyway, I would wait for a discount or coupon.

If you love Lestat you'll love this book

The story was great. I love background and the ins and outs how things happen. But the reader was mild. He didn't have any of the Lestat's Energy or Swagger.
