Retracing his own spiritual journey from atheism to faith, Lee Strobel, former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, cross-examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools like Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis who are recognized authorities in their own fields. Story
To some, the concept of having faith in a higher power or a set of religious beliefs is nonsensical. Indeed, many view religion in general, and Christianity in particular, as unfounded and unreasonable. Norman Geisler and Frank Turek argue, however, that Christianity is not only more reasonable than all other belief systems, but is indeed more rational than unbelief itself. With conviction and clear thinking, Geisler and Turek guide listeners through some of the traditional, tested arguments for the existence of a creator God.

To help followers of Christ answer questions quickly and confidently, Josh and Sean McDowell adapted the wisdom from their apologetics classic Evidence That Demands a Verdict into an accessible resource that provides answers to common questions about Jesus.

Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity.

Critics outside the church often accuse the Old Testament God of genocide, racism, ethnic cleansing, and violence. But a rising tide of critics within the church claim that Moses and other "primitive," violence-prone prophets were mistaken about God's commands and character. Both sets of critics dismiss this allegedly harsh, flawed, "textual" Old Testament God in favor of the kind, compassionate, "actual" God revealed by Jesus. Are they right to do so?

Lexicons aren't best suited for Audible
At least there's heaps of chapters in here, so it's somewhat easy to navigate, but this book is definitely best suited for having in print. Lists of Bible references, references to other chapters and the general layout seems to be designed as a resource to look up, when in need.
The general flow is what separates the book from a lexicon, because there's a storyline, a progression, instead of a list.
I was negative to the title before finishing it, because of the cheesy title, but it turned out to be a very serious book, self-aware and strong. I love that they often do not overstate the case, and rather leave the case open, and that they even encourage to read criticism of their own book. That's a healthy way to go forward.
The material in itself is simply very good.

Great book. I felt it was fine as an audio book. Its' long but worth the journey, you will be smarter and your faith will be deeper by the end. It's almost like 4 books in one, in a certain good way. Audible now has the chapter names listed, makes it easy to go back and listen to chapters you want to reinforce.

A gift of God
My review title is not an overstatement. As an Apologist myself, I have been in dialogue, recently, with the atheist community. As a result, I compiled a list of "hot" issues to research. Low and behold, this new revision of ETDV contains exactly the list of topics I compiled! The Lord is listening to the questions and doubts of unbelievers and is calling His people to respond with the answers 1 Peter 3:15. This truly amazes me! God still honors the "Doubting Thomas" and offers them a touch of the evidence that truly demands a positive verdict.

I would like to be able to navigate by chapter. Each chapter should be labeled. With the audiobook you get section 1 and a time duration, section two and the time duration, section 3 and a time duration. Not helpful and I am finding this on other audible purchases.

This is a very detailed book. if you are trying to build your belief in the Bible, for me there was way to much information and very hard to keep track of all the information. I think you really need the hard copy to be able to study and retain the information. i couldn't make it through the whole book becauseI was overwhelmed with the amount of information .
I did purchase the hard copy and am going attempt to see if reading it clears things up.

This isn't great as an audio book
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This book is interesting and I would like to read it in hard copy, it's just not an easy one to listen to and follow.
What didn’t you like about the narrators’s performance?
When I first started listening I was really wondering if the author was a talk-to-text, he reads very unevenly and dryly. I mean, I know it's not a story book, but blah. It's painful. There is a part in the book he goes "zero zero zero, zero zero zero, zero zero zero" and it's as close as an actual person could get to text-to-talk.
What character would you cut from Evidence That Demands a Verdict?
The narrator

This book is for paper, not audio
This book is probably great as a paper reference - it is not good as an audio book for two reasons: (1) the reader (often Sean McDowell) has an almost robotic voice that is not easy to listen to. In some parts it almost seems like they recorded him saying various words/phrases and then computer-generated his audio using those recorded samples, or something, and (2) much of this book is organized more in a reference format with outline #s and letters. The voice-over reads every one of those numbers and letters like "I. Old Testament. A. Septuagint. 1. Number of manuscripts. a. Verified" or something like that. It wouldn't fix everything but it would be better if the performer just skipped over all those "headings" and let the narrative flow, or somehow presented the information in an audible-friendly way.

AN UPDATED CLASSIC...AMAZING IN BREADTH AND DEPTH
This is now my #1 recommendation for anyone wanting to go deeper into their understanding of apologetics. Josh McDowell has been impacting the world through apologetics for nearly 60 years. And his son Sean is a popular seasoned apologist in his own right.
Josh's first edition of this classic was published nearly 50 years ago (1972). As a high school student, I devoured it in the late 70s. Aside from immersing myself in God's Word, it was probably the most instrumental thing that I did to strengthen my faith in order to weather the many storms of life that would come. As a father and son team, they have produced the most solid edition of this book yet. The book is amazing in its breadth and its depth, and yet it is written in such a way as to be accessible by a more popular audience (older high school and up). The narrator is also excellent, and makes this 43 hour audio book pleasing to listen to.

Awesome resource - STRONGLY RECOMMENDED
I have been greatly blessed going through this book.
It's clear, methodical and credible content has strengthened my trust in the Living God and in my willingness to share my trust with others.
There are credible reasons why being a believer and follower of Jesus and the God of the Bible; and this book explains them in a clear and understandable manner.
I also love it that the chapters actually identify the content which enables you to jump to the section of interest.

Great book to summarise all the reasons to believe in our wonderful God
This is a wonderful antidote to the pervasive and dominant thinking in today’s society that Christians are irrational in their faith. I am a new Christian and find that I am constantly having my newfound faith questioned by others. I had already done my own research before, but this is a nice refresher and leaves me feeling confident that those questions won’t go unanswered. Highly recommend !

A great resource for both skeptical and believer
First of all this is a long book but it's also an important one. While you can (and should) read it through, it's laid out in such a way that you can dip into any topic that you have questions on.
In short it looks at evidence of the Christian faith and considers both sides of the arguments for and against.
The authors are Christian so it should not surprise the reader to learn that they conclude the evidence is strong in support of Christianity but their reasons may be what do surprise you.
To get the most out of this book you must first identify your natural biases and be honest with yourself and the facts when they emerge as you listen.
I'll certainly be coming back to this book as a reference, highly recommended! 😃

Hands down the best book on Christian appologetics
A long listening experience, but if this is the only way to familiarise yourself with the superb resources in this book, boy is it worth it.

Brilliant
I have no idea how long this took to write, but it's an extremely comprehensive, excellent work. There were some topics that went over my head, sure, but I still learned tonnes. I also appreciate Sean and Josh's honesty in not jumping to conclusions that they don't think that they can found, but instead taking their time to weigh the evidence. God bless both Sean and Josh for their efforts.

A must have resource!!
Although I sometimes differ in my conclusions, this book gives a very good overview on all important matters of faith.
It gave me, as a fundamentalist, a new appreciation for other positions.

Engaging and informative
A comprehensive case for Christianity. A pleasure to listen to. Well researched and yet it doesn't feel overly technical.
