A Changed Man

I love a good story of a changed man and this story does not disappoint. My only disappointment was I wished I would have read the Billionaire Series first because you really get a first-hand look in Scoring the Billionaire on how Nick borderlines on being a deadbeat dad. By listening to Dr. Nero first, you really don't get the full picture of the emotional damage he caused to Winnie and Lexi.

In going back to the book Scoring a Billionaire, Nick is described by his ex-girlfriend as physically and emotionally abandoning his daughter Lexi and her mom, Winnie by moving out of state and putting his career first. He actually does not meet his daughter until she is four months old. Winnie's description almost made me wonder how Nick could ever redeem himself in the eyes of his daughter and his ex-lover. Had I read the series in order, I think I might have been more critical of Nick's character at the start of Dr. Nero. Yet, the Monroe Team was smart because they started this book off by having Nick admit to the audience what an ass he has been to Winnie and his daughter, Lexi, who has high- functioning autism. They also start this book off by showing the audience that Nick is working at building a relationship with Lexi and her mom. Even though there was a little scene between Nick and Winnie in Scoring the Billionaire where Nick insinuates that he wants another chance with her, there are no signs of that in this book because In this book, Winnie is now married to Wes (the owner of a professional football franchise) and Nick has to accept that Winnie and Wes have been excellent parents to his daughter while he was focused on his career.

So where does that put our hero? Well, as a single dad who puts his daughter before his career along with avoiding any form of dating with the exception of a few hook-ups over the years. Enter Charlotte, a medical head-hunter who tries to convince Nick to move back to California and accept another job for more money and prestige. Before long, Charlotte discovers that convincing Nick to take the job will be nearly impossible. Fortunately, for Charlette, she always has Plan B up her sleeve. So while Charlette is working on Plan B, Nick somehow drags Charlotte into the reality TV show that he has agreed to be a part of. This is where the fun begins and there are some heated love scenes that Nick and Charlette get caught up in that will make you swoon and giggle.

This book was the story to wrap up both series (The Billionaire & Doctor) because it connects all the characters from both series. Yet, I found Nick and Charlette's story a little flat because it lacked the humor and passion of some of the other books. Don't get me wrong, it is a great audio and story. I love Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell as Nick and Charlette. Plus, both narrators do an excellent job narrating the delightful Lexi, who helps make this story so heartwarming. Overall, 4 to 4 1/2 stars.

Least favourite of series. Only saving grace was daughter Lexi and trivia night

Not particularly interesting plot - it relies on book 1 of series for the setup and the 2 main character alternated between silly and whiney. Not worth a credit just to have some conclusion to the series which started out great.

Liked it but felt cheated!

Great read, enjoyed how Char balanced out Nick and how Nick loved his daughter. Loved the narrators as usual! I really liked this book but I felt cheated by the way they totally left out how Nick was portrayed on the TV series. Did I miss that?

Neurotic

I'm a fan of all things MM and I really wanted Nick to redeem himself after Scoring the Billionaire because I didn't have much love for Nick Raines. But I definitely love him after listening to his story.

Joe Arden saved this audio for me. His voice for Nick was perfect. I can't say I'm a fan of Maxine Mitchell but I'll give another one of her audios a try to see if this was just a one-off.

Fun story and great narration

First, the story- what a sweet story. The final book in the Docuseries, this followed Nick, the neurosurgeon and Charlotte, the medical recruiter. We first sort of met Nick during one of the billionaire stories- his ex, Winnie, eventually married Wes. They had a daughter, Lexi, and he was the absent father. Already, he had a huge huge strike against him. But the authors actually did the impossible- they made him into a sympathetic character. He had his (still poor) reasons for doing what he did but what really redeemed him was how much he tried to be a great father. Charlotte tried to recruit him but he refused, even with a doubling of his salary and so much money to do research. Why? Because of his daughter. *sigh*

The romance was fast but sweet- they obviously were good together and liked each other and the banter was fun. The docuseries actually was a minor aspect of the story- the timeline of this story started even before Will's story (Dr. Ob's story) but it spanned quite a while as life threw obstacles into their love life.

Lexi is awesome- a tiny powerhouse that made me smile with her snark and her intelligence. Winnie and Wes, as well as Winnie's brother Remy, brought smiles to my face (story for Remy please?!) And overall, I smiled a lot during this book. (I read the book through KU and listened to the book through AE)

Speaking of the audiobook, the authors were great. Nice energy, great voices, excellent pacing and they were having fun. It was a pleasure to listen to.

MAXimum Enjoyment!

This entire series has been fantastically laugh-out-loud funny. Three different doctors with three entirely different stories, but all outrageously witty, snarky, over the top, and just plain mind blowing. This is romantic comedy at its absolute best.

This book was funny, sweet, loving and touching. Both Nick and Char were such good characters. Then add in Lexi, Winky, Wes and Remy and you have a huge hit.
