Publisher's summary

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again.

After 15 years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another.

I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side.

All I wanted was for him to come back to me.

Then, Jackson Emery appeared.

He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart.

We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love. He was too closed-off for me, and I was too damaged for him.

Everything was fine, until one night my heart skipped a beat.

I didn’t expect him to make me laugh. To make me think. To make my sadness somewhat disappear.

When our time was up, my heart didn’t know how to walk away.

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again, yet slowly my prayers began to shift toward the man who wasn’t right for me.

I prayed for one more smile, one more kiss, one more laugh, one more touch....

I prayed for him to be mine.

Even though I knew his heart wasn’t destined to love.

This should be ten stars!

I am in awe. This is an incredible story. It has love, angst, loyal dog Tucker, tragedy, bullying, wonderful uncle and this is just part of Jackson’s story. Her story has a less than supportive Mother, a cheating husband, history of seven miscarriages, an adoring and supportive sister. This goody too shoes everybody pleaser learns from Jackson how to discover herself and those around them get some lessons too. I laughed out loud, cried blooper tears, and stayed up ALL night to finish it. It is a treasure. Get the narration too. It’s excellent. Really brings the story to life. Highly recommend. Gonna be on my to be reread list.

See how Compassion gets twisted into Judgement

This author really makes you think & reevaluate yourself. Judging a book by it's cover or their past or where /how they may live. Love all the different types of personalities. How great loss can affect our Future. Great STORY. I couldn't STOP reading...

good but not great

I've passed this story so many times because I wasn't to fond of the southern accent. The story was very good but wish it was read in regular accent. I'm a southerner and didn't feel the accent sounded natural. This story didn't have your typical romance feel and it seemed more like a drama than romance. Also, the story was a little too long. The hero and heroin took a long time to connect. I had three hours left in the story and I still didn't feel the connection. I like the hero accent better than heroin, but they still did a good job. I did skip a few chapters so I can hurry and finish it. I don't want to not recommend or recommend this story. This story is not for me, but could be for you!

Small town

The only reason i continued listening to the book was James Cavenaugh.
PK falls for the boy from the other side of town and all of the other small town drama.

5 AWESOME STARS!

This is my first book from this author and it won't be my last. Although this story has some heart-wrenching moments, I think it was well balanced with some feel good moments. We have two broken people that find their way to each other. My only gripe is that I wished Grace didn't try to please others so much, especially her mother. This story has loyalty, back-stabbing, douche of an ex, supportive sister, nagging mother just to name a few. Narrators did a great job.

I Didn’t Love It

This audiobook wasn’t the easiest to listen to. I had a really hard time getting into it at first and it really hit home with the husband leaving her. I understand the ache when that happens. The fact that Jackson never had a friend bothered me, too. It was just too sad to think of a child going through that, especially after losing a parent.

I ended up liking Jackson because through his grumpiness, he had a tender heart. It makes you want to look beyond the outside and look into the eyes of a person. Grace was also very sweet, and I understand how her mother drove her crazy. There were a lot of twists in the story but it all came together at the end. Unlike a lot of other Brittainy’s books, you’re not going to laugh a lot in the story.

This was not my favorite book that the author wrote, and the narrators weren’t my favorite, but it’s still worth the listen.
