Publisher's Summary

Sometimes your mouth makes deals that your heart can’t honour.

Jude is a highly successful model, but a very reluctant one. His life is full of casual hook-ups with pretty men in glamorous locations, but it’s still empty. However, circumstances decreed a long time ago that this was his path, so he’s resolutely stayed on it and accepted his fate with good grace. He made a deal with himself and his hook-ups. Get in, get out, and no ties with anyone.

However, an accident at home one night leads to him making a new deal and accepting the offer of help from an unlikely source. It leads to an unexpected summer of falling in love with a larger-than-life man and his child. But by the end of the summer his reasons for not staying are still valid. Will he turn away? Can he?

Asa is a talented actor who has spent time away from the scene to look after his son. But now he’s back, and the last thing he needs are complications from the gorgeous man who is staying with him. Scarred from too many betrayals, he has no intention of forming a lasting tie with anyone. However, he can’t resist the beautiful man with secrets, and to his horror he develops feelings.

But a deal’s a deal and they said it was just for the summer. What can Asa do with a man who has forever in his eyes and goodbye on his lips?

From the Amazon best-selling author of Rule Breaker comes another scorchingly hot romantic comedy.

This is the second book in the Mixed Messages series but it can be read as a stand-alone.

This. Is. It. !! The Utterly Perfect Narration

Once in a while, you listen or/and read something that touches a part within your soul.
Giving you intense feelings, an almost visceral reaction, of love , sorrow, happiness , affinity , hope , loss.

I experienced all those emotions while listening to Joel Leslie's narration of Deal Maker by Lily Morton.

A year ago, I read the ebook version of Deal Maker, Asa and Jude's story. I fell ,head over heels, in love with all the characters; the snarky banter, hilarious dialogue , descriptive and smutty hot AF sexy times. And, the overall engaging , heartfelt and passionate tone of the story; without a doubt Deal Maker is an awesome book.

So, my fierce , deep and Yes! Hot-Blooded reaction! Is because listening Joel Leslie performance was better than me reading the book. He transported me to Asa's Pink London house, to Jude's parents farm in Devon, I walked ,hand in hand, with Billy on the beach of Mallorca , ate scones and drank a cuppa at Asa's kitchen table and felt as voyeur watching Jude and Asa make love. It was so vividly told that felt I watching a movie in my mind.

This. Is. It.
The reason I enjoy and love listening/reading Romance books. To escape the ordinary , immerse myself in a beautiful fantasy where the good guys win , have wonderful adventures , visit exotic fascinating places and all get a happy ever after. Get this audio it's worth ALL your credits.

Lily Morton and Joel Leslie are the Audiobook Dream Team !

#Dead #LMAO

These books have been an absolutely Hilarious Riot so far. I Freaking Love these books so much. I can see myself reading and listening to these books over and over any time I need a pick-me-up, or laugh.

Jude is such a great character. I fell in love with him right from when we met him in book one as Dylan's bestie. However, when he decided "Pink Poo" was the password and was yelling it for the world to hear, my love for him was solidified. Billy, was adorable and I loved his 5 year old snarky personality. And Asa.... What do I even say... LMAO.. He really deserved all the funny high-jinx and jokes that Jude put him through and played on him at the beginning, he totally asked for it with his way of thinking and judgement. LOL. As time went on though, you could see the strength of their relationship forming from a mile away. I love how they unconsciously developed their little family, without even realizing it was happening along the way.

Joel Leslie, LMAO OMG, you are so freaking amazing.... Seriously I haven't laughed this hard in a Long While. Thank you so much for all the crazy dramatic effort you so obviously put into these books. Coming from the US I'm never really sure how on point the accents & dialects are for British/Aussie characters, but the voices for every character in this book (and book one of this series) was believable to me. I really felt like I knew the characters by the end of this book. And omg, I loved your voice for Bill so much, it was utterly adorable, he was such a cute character even more so in the audio version. I thoroughly enjoyed the audio for these books and really don't want to wait for book three to hit audible. lol. I want it now...

P.S. Someone, please tell me Dean gets a book... I would love to see more of his High-ness... LMAO...

Fantastic sequel that can be read independently

I found it not as angsty and dramatic as the first one, but that could be due to the different kind of drama of both books. Masterfully written and performed.

Don't judge a book by it's cover

Unlike the first book in the series that took some effort to get into, I liked this one from the start. Jude is the perfect snarky character to ever grace a books pages, he does his outmost to be a ditzy, clueless model parody to make Asa's life difficult. And as funny as that was, I liked that the author didn't take it too far or it could have been annoying. Asa, for his part, is also a clever witty man and catches on to Jude's act, shifting their relationship to a new territory.
Asa is just a big old cuddly softy that makes the ultimate book boyfriend, and his relationship with his son is sweet and touching. Billy is the cutest, most conniving little boy you can imagine and seeing how Asa and Jude orbit around his was wonderful.
I liked how much Jude was a well-rounded character, he had many good reasons to be the way he was, and Asa did too. It made the conflict of the story that much more interesting because you could clearly take either side. Finding their HEA was not easy and they each had to fight old scars and pain from past relationships to get it.
This book is both funny and genuinely touching, with great supporting characters too. The replies to fan mail Jude writes in Asa's name at the beginning of ever chapter are hilarious! Choosing to read them out in Asa's voice is even more so!

The narration by Joel Leslie is, like always fantastic! He fits characters like Jude and Dylan so well and his accent work his so good! I cannot get enough of his accents, he's like a chameleon, smoothly moving from character to character. This book was hilarious and he just made it that much better with his nuances and acting skills.

Amazing

I read this when it first came out, as Lily has a way of making her characters come alive and be amazing! But this audiobook just brings the characters to life!!! It was amazing to hear the characters and bring me back into this world. The witty banter, the emotions, the climax, the resolution were all beautifully brought out by the amazing Joel. If you haven't already, I would definitely give this author and book a chance, you won't regret it :)

Another amazing book in this Series

I received an ARC of this audio for my honest review. This book is about Asa, Jude and little Billy. You can feel their relationship developing even after Asa feels that Jude is dumb because he's a model. Jude decides to play along at first.

Jude & Asa

Love the story of Jude and Asa. Their chemistry is incredible and I really like that they took their time to get to know each other Neither one was looking for a relationship but their connection is difficult to deny. One of my favorite scenes is definitely between Jude and Phillip, love it! I absolutely love Billy! The narrator was fantastic with the story and all of the voices. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.

Perfection

Deal Breaker can be read as a stand-alone, but this series is so amazing, I can't think of any reason someone would WANT to! This book is the much anticipated follow-up to Rule Breaker, but in this book we get to know more about Dylan's best friend Jude! Jude is a model and he meets Asa, an actor, and his son Billy. Both Jude and Asa have a past that initially keep them from wanting a relationship, but their chemistry is hard to fight. They give each other the summer, but when the summer is over, will they be able to give each other up?
This book was absolutely fantastic. I initially read the e-book, but with Joel Leslie's narration it made this amazing book, perfect! The story is funny and engaging, and the characters are ones that you can't help but fall in love with. Especially Billy - he is an absolute gem! The chemistry between the characters is off the charts but not overdone. The narration by Joel Leslie was perfection. He did such a good job bringing life to these characters - the mannerisms that come out with the narration will make you laugh out loud throughout this book!
Overall, this was absolutely amazing and a wonderful follow-up to Rule Breaker, and I hope there will be more in the series (there really needs to be more in this series!)!

Amazingly good

I loved, loved, loved this book and the audio made me love it even more. Joel Leslie and Lily Morton are like a match made heaven. I loved the witty, snarky banter of this book. These books are very character driven, I adored Jude in the first book and he’s even better in this book. Asa is his perfect match! The narration was sheer perfection!

So Brilliant, loved it!

Just cracking! I loved this book, probably even more than Rule Breaker. It’s the second book in this series but you don’t need to have listened to the first prior to listening to this although you do get brief appearances from characters you know.

There’s plenty of fun to be had here and also lots of sweet moments. I fell for all the characters, even Billy - Amazing for a miserable sod like me who doesn’t like kids 😜

Joel Leslie is fab again, his character voices are amazing and his comedy timing is spot on.

Highly recommend.

Brilliant book

Deal Maker is a great read and narrated brilliantly. The characters are well rounded at times very funny and others very emotive. I loved Jude’s connection with Billy. A heartwarming story that held my interest and will go on my list too listen to again. I thought Joel Leslie’s narration really brought the story to life.

My favorite in the series!

I've been having really good luck lately with audiobooks and thankfully, Deal Maker was not the exception! It's book 2 in the series, and while it can be read as a standalone, once you meet Dylan and Gabe, I promise you'll want to read their story!

I loved Jude and Asa and Billy, Asa's 5-year-old son, who was so adorable and totally stole every single scene he was in. I will admit I wasn't too sure about Asa at first, until we got a chapter with his POV and he finally saw through his misconceptions of Jude and then I just fell for him as much as Jude did. And while there were a few times in which I wanted to shake some sense into Jude, I could understand why he had trouble accepting why anyone would want to saddle themselves with someone in his situation.

I've read or listened to all three books in the series now, and I can tell you Asa and Jude are my favorite couple, followed closely by Dylan and Gabe (who totally redeemed himself in my eyes in this book) and Henry and Ivo (book 3).
Joel Leslie's performance was flawless! He did so much justice to Lily Morton's words and humor with his voice that I found it hard to put the book down, 2 days of going to bed at nearly 3am can attest to that. LOL

I definitely recommend this book, and if you can get it in audio, I promise you won't regret it. It's amazing!

My new favourite author

I've really discovered Lily Morton this year and I have to say I love their stuff. I adored Rule Breaker but I think I love Deal Maker even more. Jude is so funny and clever and I just adored him and and Asa together. In fact I loved the entire household, apart from that nanny, and especially little Billy.

This can be read as a standalone but I can't think of any reason not to listen to Rule Breaker too.

Both are narrated by Joel Leslie who does an excellent job.

A Wonderful Romance

I discovered the wonderful writing of Lily Morton in her short story The Dog Walker. For the next few months you can find it in the Heart2Heart Charity Anthology available at https://www.amazon.com/Heart2Heart-Charity-Anthology-Collection-3-ebook/dp/B07XP6D2M5/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=heart2heart+volume+3&qid=1570986739&s=digital-text&sr=1-1. I hope she’ll make it available after the anthology is retired because it’s one of the loveliest things I’ve read and I highly recommend it.

Deal Maker is the second in the Mixed Messages series. This book stands alone, and though characters from the first book Rule Breaker do appear I had no trouble filling in the gaps.

Told in alternating points-of-view, we get both Dylan and Asa’s insights. This is particularly hilarious at the start where Dylan is teasing and spoofing Asa by pretending to be a “dumb model”. The chemistry between the two men is instant, and when Dylan bonds with Asa’s young son, Bill, there’s no doubt where this one is going.

Throughout the plot Ms. Morton throws in some curveballs which help keep Deal Maker fresh and intriguing, but also covers all the bases of what makes a thoroughly satisfying romance...well, satisfying. Interesting characters and colorful descriptions of the surrounds hold with what I enjoyed so much about The Dog Walker and just make me even more anxious to discover what other wonderful stories Lily Morton has published.

Perfect story and narration!

Lily Morton writes the best books! The characters are lively, fun, so relatable that one would love to know them. This is no exception :)
Jude needs a place to stay temporarily when his flat is flooded. His current squeeze, Dean, oblivious to the seriousness of the situation - (that was a hilarious scene) - offers his step-brothers place. Jude arrives to said place and meets a little boy, Billy (he will steal your heart), a pessimistic driver, a motherly housekeeper and the home owner - Asa.
Asa and Jude were well matched - Asa assumed that all models were airheads and Jude set out deliberately to keep that assumption going, with hilarious results! There is a lot of fun with the MCs, Billy and the secondary characters; twe get to see Dylan and Gabe (Rule Breaker). The romance is lovely, with a little bite when Asa and Jude separate for a bit - overall, one of my favourite stories :)

I wish there was a 'This Is Your Life" for Joel Leslie. This version would have all the characters he's brought to life and all the listeners who have been touched by or have enjoyed his performances. He is truly a one of a kind narrator, immersing himself in the characters, right down to the right accent, emotions, subtle inflections and mannerisms (you can almost see Billy poking a tongue in his cheek when he says something sagely :)
The audio performance is nuanced, one can tell who is speaking and what they are feeling. Joel Leslie switches seamlessly between Asa's Yorkshire accent, Jude's Devon to Billy's mixed London (child's) accent and Peggy's East London one; sometimes all within the space of 3 minutes! The book is excellent on it's own, but once you listen to the audio performance, you'll realise that the book is pretty much complete with it :) I would give this audiobook every star possible!

Great entertainment

This audiobook is absolute joy. I loved Deal Maker when I read it, Lily Morton really is an expert at creating fantastic characters and Asa and Jude are no exception. Their banter throughout the books is hilarious, Jude replying to Asa’s fan mail is fab.

Joel Leslie takes this book to a whole new level and further enhanced my enjoyment of this story, his accents are brilliant and he portrays Billy exactly as I imagined. He conveys emotions incredibly and made the funny moments even funnier with his delivery. I found myself smiling the whole time I was listening.

Jude meets his match! LOL

Joel Leslie is definitely one of my favourite narrators and the way he brings these characters to life is just awesome! Lily Morton brings her unique sense of humour and writing style to bear with wonderful effect. I've rarely laughed so hard when listening to an audiobook. Good thing I was at home in the privacy of my own bedroom! This tale of Jude and Asa snarking at each other when so evenly matched is the perfect antidote to the blues! I also love little Billy...precocious little boy! What's not to love? Highly recommended for all lovers of Contemporary MM romance everywhere! 10 out of 10
