Publisher's Summary

Is it really wrong to want to murder your boss?

Dylan has worked for Gabe for two years. Two long years of sarcastic comments. Two long years of insults, and having to redo the coffee pot four times in the mornings to meet his exacting standards.

Not surprisingly he has devoted a lot of time to increasingly inventive ways to murder Gabe. From stabbing him with a cake fork, to garrotting him with his expensive tie, Dylan has thought of everything.

However, a chance encounter opens his eyes to the attraction that has always lain between them, concealed by the layers of antipathy. There are only two problems - Gabe is still a bastard, and he makes wedding planners look like hardened pessimists.

But what happens when Dylan starts to see the real Gabe? What happens when he starts to fall in love with the warm, wary man that he sees glimpses of as the days pass?

Because Gabe is still the same commitment shy, cold man that he’s always been, or is he? Has Dylan had the same effect on Gabe, and has his solid gold rule of no commitment finally been broken? With his heart taken Dylan desperately needs to know, but will he get hurt trying to find the answers?

From the author of The Summer of Us comes another scorchingly hot romantic comedy, showing what happens between two men when rules get broken.

To say I enjoyed listening to Rule Breaker would be an understatement. I am utterly and I mean cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs , obsessed and giddy by how much I was entertained .

Even though, I already read and loved Rule Breaker; Joel Leslie brought it to life. His characterization of Dylan and Gabe was magnificent.

his portrayal captured and gave me the Dylan and Gabe , I had in my head ; he deliver exactly, the snark, the teasing, the lust, the hurt and the happiness. Everything.

Thus far, my review have been about how the story made me feel and how pleasurable experience was to listen to it.

But I haven't say anything of what the book is about. So, the short and sweet explanation.
It's a Rom - Com about two likeable, engaging, polar opposite men , doing everything possible to fight their volatile and their OMG fire burning 😏 I'm melting here chemistry and need for each other tale.

It's written with Lily Morton offbeat, quirky and lovable style.

The type of tale you know , you'll be reading/listening again and again because it makes you feel good , believe that true love really does exist and everyone can have a HEA.

Get this audio , it is worth all the credits in your account.

Brings the emotion to life!

OMG! Just finished the new audiobook of Rule Breaker!! Stayed up all night listening to it...it was THAT good!! And let me say at this point that I’ve read the book three times prior!

Joel Leslie does such a fantastic job with the narration. I always remember the snark and sass of the books but he brings the emotion and heartbreak so alive it is breathtaking! I’m amazed by how much different he sounds here than in other books he’s done. So in character, so talented. Even the intro and the credits in character!! Bravo!!

One of my favorites

I really love this book a lot. I’ve reread it a few times and I’ve listened to the audio a few times as well. Rereading a book is a rare thing for me so it’s that good.

The characters are snarky and humorous and easy to fall in love with. The story got me hooked right away, and the romance is both sweet and hot.

I have to gush about the narration too because I live in the US and sometimes when narrators use accents I have a really hard time following along. Not with this one. I didn’t have a hard time following along at all. It was so well done. I honestly can’t wait for more audios from this author.

Fun with a twist of snark

I absolutely love narrations done by Joel Leslie - the man is a genius when it comes to accents. At the same time he has an excellent voice that is so easy to listen to and he really brings the book alive.

Rule Breaker is fun and the snark between the main characters makes me laugh every time I listen to or read this book.

The plot is well executed and the author writes in a way that has me turning page after page all the way to The End.

100% Worth it- Better than expected

Definitely one of the best in this genre. Wished it was longer or even a series that explored the relationship further. I like when books go beyond the happy ending. Bravo to the author and narrator!

More, please!

Love!
I am hooked, and want more.
This book I deffinetly worth the money.
It is cute, clever, funny and with just the right amount of drama. Nothing that does not belong, and no drama just for the sake of it.
if you like to laugh (and dry humor) and want an easy listen, this is most assuredly for you.
Sadly the other books have to be read, as they are (not yet?) on audible.

Perfect narration!

Overall: 4.5 Stars

I'm finding it so difficult to rate this book. On one hand, I loved Dylan and for the most part, it was really fun to read the book in his POV. Of course, when we got to the angsty parts, that kind of backfired, because I ended sobbing my heart out and wanting to cuddle Dylan and make it better and kill Gabe at the same time. On the other hand, while at one point I thought I was starting to like Gabe, he did something that made me want to throat-punch him and by the time he pulled his head out of his shapely behind, it was too late for me to really warm up to him. That doesn't mean that I didn't think Gabe and Dylan had chemistry or weren't hot together, because they had and they were, it just means that the fact that Gabe was a complete and utter wanker kind of put a bit of a dent in my enjoyment of this book.

I loved Dylan's roommate, Jude, and Gabe's best friend, Henry, so I'm looking forward to reading or listening to their stories. I hated Fletcher, Gabe's boyfriend at the start of the book and with how awful he was, I truly would've liked it if we'd gotten more than just a passing mention that Gabe had ended things with him after how evil Fletcher was to Dylan.

Overall, the book was fun, entertaining, steamy, with some angst thrown in to make me cry, LOL, and with a nice epilogue.

The narration was great, but really, what do you expect when the narrator is Joel Leslie? He captured Dylan's snarky sense of humor perfectly and did a fantastic job bringing the book and the characters to life for me. Definitely an audiobook you shouldn't miss out on!

Great story, great performance

I read the books first and the audiobook was every bit as good. Lily Morton writes romance with humour and the odd tear. Joel Leslie provides great narration, clearly differentiating the different characters in the story. The story was enjoyable from start to finish and I look forward to the other books in the series coming to audiobooks, in particular Henry's story and Milo.

Gah!! Tore me apart and warmed my heart

Both characters grabbed me right from the start and I ADORE Dylan he's one of the most fantastic characters ever. His snark is seriously on point and the sass in this book is phenomenal!! There were several parts that were really emotionally hard to get though and tough to listen to. This book was full of ups and down. Their HEA was hard fought for and well deserved and in the end, despite or because of the emotional turmoil i loved it!
I need Jude's book NOW

Why bend the rules when you can break them all?

I adore Joel Leslie as a narrator as he just has such a sexy voice that lends itself to these classy London guys. This audio tale did not disappoint.
I had not previously read the ebook so I didn't have any pre-conceived notions about either Dylan or Gabe. Lily Morton has crafted a wonderfully heart-breaking (at times) tale of the ups and downs of the working then sexual relationship of Gabe, the hard-nosed boss, and his Personal Assistant, Dylan (or should that be administrative assistant these days? I don't really care either way). They have some very nosy, interfering best friends who help them along when the course of not-love doesn't run smoothly any longer. As I got to know the guys, I was rooting for them to get it together and hoping that they might eventually find their Happy Ever After. Highly recommended for all Lily Morton fans, Joel Leslie fans, and any other lovers of well-written MM Contemporary Romance...set in London, my home territory.

So good!!! I loved Dylan and Gabe!

🌟🌟🌟🌟 4.5 stars

So good!!! I loved Dylan and Gabe!

This was a great, funny, sassy, emotional story about how good things can happen if you break your rules!

Dylan and Gabe are both such dynamic characters with such depth. I loved the back and forth between them. Dylan is hilarious. I love how his injected humor and snark throws Gabe off. Joel’s narration of Dylan is hilarious. I love Joel’s narration in general but when humor is involved he nocks it out of the park!!

The story includes all the fun, sass and snark you’d expect from Lily and these characters work so well together. I loved the slow development of feelings and the subsequent fear Gabe has about these feelings. Lily took such care with these feelings and while frustrating at times and back and forth and eventual acceptance was just wonderful. All the feels. I look forward to reading the rest of the series, there are definitely some fantastic characters so learn more about!!

Thanks for reading!

OMG so funny

Gabe and Dylan together is so hilariously funny. I think I laughed through 90% of this book. I hadn't read the book before listening to it and I'm glad I got to hear the humor and the emotion in the narrators voice while listening to it for the first time.

Oh my word.

It was marvellous, listening to this audiobook, Joel Leslie is as usual awesome. His accents are a joy to listen to. He brings all the characters to vibrant life.
I love the snark between Dylan and Gabe, the story flows well has an acceptable amount of angst and quite a few laughs. The secondary characters in the main are wonderful and the others get due insults. A couple of stories waiting to happen, I hope. A highly recommended listen.

Excellent narration

You can’t go wrong with a Joel audio. He always delivers a spirited performance and injects the subject matter with all of the feels: laughter, tears, and anger. And there are a lot of all three emotions in this story.
The story is well written with a good sense of place and lots of British humour.
Overall I enjoyed this story, I liked the banter and disrespectful respect Gabe and Dylan had for each other. Gabe is normally the sort of character that I love, gruff, damaged, with a heart of gold that he guards with an insurmountable wall. He was an arsehole of the highest order and I loved watching the bricks start to crumble as he let Dylan in.
I adored the scenes at the farm but they were tinged with a sense of doom because I knew with Gabe’s issues and the fact I was barely 50% through the book that things would not go well.
And when things went downhill they crashed and burned in a spectacular manner. I cried for a good hour of listening time at around 75% because Gabe was being an arsehole and Dylan was being a doormat. Then I got angry because the author manipulated a situation, making both side and main characters act inconsistently, to the point where another painful row would ensue, with Dylan acting like an arsehole this time. In a book of this length, that anger and pain was too close to the end of the book for the HEA to completely dissolve all of the bad feelings that had sprung up around both of the lead characters. It also annoyed me that since you don’t get Gabe’s POV, it feels as though neither of the characters make an effort to get back together, instead it feels as though their friends and circumstances manipulate them into it and without that interference they never would have got their heads out of their arses. I suspect had we been in Gabe’s POV for the last quarter of the book this wouldn’t have been the case and my feelings and the general angry tone of the book would have been different. The epilogue is nearly an hour long and believe me we need that hour of unrelenting happy, it goes a long way to dispelling the aura surrounding the last part of the book. And we finally get Gabe's POV and it is adorable, a conflicted man who yearns for love but pushes it away at the same time to protect himself, but when he finally allows someone in, wow.
5 stars for the narration. What should have been a 4 star story (even with all the tears), rounded down to 3 because of the manipulated scene that made me really angry to the point I nearly DNF’d. Total overall score 4 stars. Would I recommend it? Yes, probably but be prepared to not love the characters as much as you should.
