Publisher's Summary

From USA Today best-selling author Mary Jo Burke comes the next deliciously deadly episode in the best-selling Aloha Lagoon Mystery series.

After Simone Ryan is stood up at the alter by her fiancé, Elliott, she decides to enjoy her would-be honeymoon in paradise alone. She checks into the Aloha Lagoon Resort's bridal suite and promptly begins to drown her sorrows in champagne. But when Simone steps out onto the balcony to take in the glorious Hawaiian scenery, she gets an even better view. Hot local baker, Liam Bentley, is out for a stroll on the beach. Maybe being single isn't so bad after all.

But when Elliot makes a surprise appearance at the resort - with a younger woman in tow - things turn deadly, and suddenly Simone finds herself not in the role of newlywed but prime murder suspect!

Fighting for her life - not to mention her dignity - Simone must uncover secrets from her ex-fiancé's past, which may just have killer consequences for her own future. With the help of the ever-so-tempting Liam, his feisty grandmother, and the quirky Aloha Lagoon staff, Simone finds herself tracking down a murderer who may just be closer to home than she thinks...

About Aloha Lagoon: There's trouble in paradise... Welcome to Aloha Lagoon, one of Hawaii's hidden treasures. A little bit of tropical paradise nestled along the coast of Kauai, this resort town boasts luxurious accommodation, friendly island atmosphere...and only a slightly higher than normal murder rate. While mysterious circumstances may be the norm on our corner of the island, we're certain that our staff and Lagoon natives will make your stay in Aloha Lagoon one you will never forget!

Fun simple Mystery

This is a fairly simple entertaining read with a great backdrop in a beautiful setting. While I believe younger listeners will enjoy
this book more I suspect anyone who wants a light Summer read will enjoy this book.

The Narrator is a Pro and did a good job with the material.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

OK BOOK

This book started out good and slowed down a lot as it went on. I would have liked it much better without the accents of a couple people in the book. I always screen the narration prior to purchasing a book because of this but the accents came after the sample reading.

Left At City Hall

Simone Ryan decides to fly to Kauai for her “honeymoon” after being stood up. Then Elliot shows up with the underage daughter of Simone’s boss a Congresswoman. When she confronts them and the police show up it’s a real nightmare. Then Elliot drowns and she the leading suspect. New friends Liam and grandmother that her under their care. A laugh out loud series in Paradise. Great narration.

Beach read

Like intrigue? Steamy scenes with little actually revealed? This is a solid beach-read.

Enjoyable light reading type book. Some intense parts and a few solid twists packed into a “never in a million years” type romance.

Not for under 18 due to suggestion. Language would be ranked as moderate.

The narrator has pretty good character differentiation and fits the characters well!

Hawaii is for love and murder.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this book. Samone decides to go on her honeymoon alone, having been stoodup at the courthouse on her wedding day. Unfortunately, her fiance shows up with the daughter of her boss. After causing a scene, she ends up as a murder suspect when Elliott ends up dead.

A couple of very interesting characters come to the rescue and she finds herself in the middle of a FBI case and falls for another man with secrets only to be saved from a similar fate as Elliott by her mother

ok

Deadly Bubbles in the Wine is ok. It's more romance than mystery and not very realistic. But, it's ok.

Then then the more they dig more lies and cover ups are found. In the middle of all this she meets Liam and his grandmother. Single honeymoon romance

I want to say I enjoy this book because I have listened to a few of the other books in the series but it got to confusing with everybody having alias and for a woman who hated men she sure got over that quickly. I listened to this book a while ago and when I noticed I hadn't reviewed it, I 're listened and to be honest I still don't know how I feel about it. There was some interesting characters especially Liam's grandma but the mystery was very slow to get going because she was falling in love. Then everything gets flipped on it head with everybody not being who they said. I had guessed the killer but I think that was more because I didn't like the character. I will visit Aloha Lagoon again but not sure if will be with Simone and Liam.
When Simone gets left at the alta, she decided to go on the honeymoon she paid for a lone. Being single with so many happy couples doesn't help her mood and neither does the man who dumped her turning up with her boss's much younger daughter on his arm. It only gets worse when his body is discovered and she becomes the prime suspect. The hotel don't want a possible murderer upsetting there guest and ask her to leave and with the police telling her she can't leave the island, she has no choice but stay with the local hunks feisty and colourful grandmother. With no money, no job and no husband, Simone's only choice is to find the killer herself and try not to lose her heart to the yummy baker.
The narrator was okay but she didn't have a huge range of voices and to be honest I am not sure that helped the story.

Tons of humour, intriguing plot twist.

Tame sex scenes references without gory pornographic description which is refreshing. Love it!!! Recommended for anyone looking for romance without those unnecessary titillating description.
