Publisher's summary

War begins. But secrets have the power to end...everything.

Fallen princess. Traitor. Queen.

Forsaking her people and her birthright, Elise Lysander takes her place at the side of the new fae king of a broken land. Revered by some, hated by many, Elise’s fight for her love and freedom is only beginning.

As secrets of Castle Ravenspire come to light, Elise and Valen discover their enemies hold more power than they ever imagined.

It will take more than blades to defeat them: fulfilling a dangerous request from Valen’s imprisoned brother, destroying a prophecy of fate kept in the hands of Elise's brutal sister, and an unwilling alliance with a shadowed thief from a neighboring kingdom that might end in victory or more death.

Blood is calling. War will answer.

But for Elise and Valen this fight could be their hard-fought salvation…or a vicious end to everything they love.

Filled with luscious world building, banter-filled romance, and epic battles, this final book in the Northern Kingdom is part Viking, part fairytale. It is intended for mature listeners.

loved it

I love the characters and the story line , I feel like there could have been one more book to add more details I feel the ending was rushed but I know there are more books and I'm hoping those help with adding more I am not done with Elise and valens story but the next books take on a new journey I just hope they swivel back around or intertwine. Not a waste very enjoyable especially if you like Sara j maass or Jennifer L Armentrout books .

What to say but clever

I’ve greatly enjoyed these books! When I heard that the next would be about another storyline I was disappointed, but after finishing this book I’m already invested in the Nightrenders story. Engaging and very fast paced.

Very engaging

You can’t quite predict all the turns which keeps the book not predictable. I like the characters and how each have a story of their own.

My Review:
I sooo wasn't excepting the story to take the route it did! This was a great conclusion to The northern kingdom. The whole family together! Lots of character development, descriptive scenes and oh the twists of fate. It was awesome meeting some new characters from the Eastern Kingdom, the nightrender especially, and seeing how the kingdoms intertwined. Loved it, another page turner with LJ’s amazing writing style! It was so spellbounding, I couldn't stop listening.

LJ Andrews is branding these books in my heart!
Another Great performance by Stina & Tim.

And we get to the end of the first arc

4.5 stars

This is the ending of the first trilogy, which was the relationship arc between Elise and Valen and their fight for the Crown and the Castle of Ravenspire. The bad guys in this case- the "fake royals" are TRULY bad guys. They have done things in their quest to gain and keep power that are awful.

This book is definitely full of action from beginning to end. Many, many secrets are uncovered. The current evil "fake royals" have discovered and have in their possession quite a bit of information on our good guys - that would be Elise and Prince Valen - who have now become the King and Queen. Their band of resistance, formerly called the Agitators, is growing daily as people come to join them.

In the course of their fight, it is discovered that more members of the Royal Family may be alive. The bad guys are not above taking prisoners, no one is safe, not even children. So, things devolve and the decision is made to go to war.

I loved this book. We get to see the group of people that Elise has managed to build around her come together. They have allies in the most unusual places. Everything is on the line as they fight for their new found family. As usual, there have been prophecies that were made centuries that actually come into play now.....fate *sigh*

Though we get the end to this arc, the next arc is set up beautifully and it looks like we will be going east to the lands of the people with the different kind of magic (can't remember the name at the moment)

I'm going to take a brief (hopefully brief) break between this and the next arc. It's Tuesday - which to those of you in book land means - New Release Day! And I've got a couple of books I've been waiting on so...time to change genres :)
