Publisher's Summary
Derrick is one of the creatus, created beings who have lived on the Earth for more than 4,000 years. Many questions surround the origin of these sentient beings who are stronger than humans, eat differently, and live longer. But they were created just as we were, maybe even before us. It is from them we obtain our fairy tales - and our nightmares. They are the reason we believe in superheroes - and monsters. Because...they exist.
In the past, they kept the human race safe from an anonymous distance. But now, Derrick must come out of the darkness to save a woman he has no business loving, even if doing so may threaten his entire race.
The Creatus Series is not your normal paranormal story...it's a realistic romantic mystery based on the myths you've heard your entire life. Prepare to believe....
Bonus material: Creatus includes the prequel, Creatus: They Exist, and a sneak peek at Creatus Rogue.

Much Better Than Expected!
I was highly impressed with Creatus, and thought the plot was original which was refreshing. I actually completed it in less that 24 hours, the story moves at a good pace and kept me engaged.
The Creatus are not human, and try to keep their existence unknown from humans; however, Derrick, the overseer of the Creatus, vows to secretly watch over and protect eight year old Kris after her mother is killed in front of her. As the years pass, he secretly watches and protects Kris but as she grows from the young girl into a women, he falls in love with her.
The night Kris's mother was killed, she was saved from the same fate by a stranger wearing all black, and calls him her Dark Angel. As she grows up, she moves from one foster home to another and her life is not always easy; however, she never forgets her Dark Angel and senses he is real. Then one night she decides to take drastic measures to meet her Dark Angel and plunges to her death but Derrick saves her again.
Now that Kris is all grown up and knows her Dark Angel is real, their attraction for each other grows. She decides to join Derrick and his world but there are some Creatus's who do not agree Derrick should not be the overseer, or with a human. These Creatus put plans into motion to kill Kris and Derrick.
Anytime I start a new book with a narrator I've never heard before, I always have to get adjusted to the new voice; however, after the first hour, I was used to Marcio's voice and thought he did a great job narrating the story.
Creatus was a really good story and I was torn between a four or five star but ultimately settled for a four star. If the plot was a little more intense and the romance a little steamer, I would have given it a five star. However, this is definitely a credit worthy story and I will be on the lookout for the next book in the series.

Interesting novel
Any additional comments?
I liked this book, it was an interesting version of mythical creatures from legend being mixed with a technology savy race, who had to give up their tech in exchange for a life on Earth, blending in with the human race. The story begins when the main female character is eight years old, she is watched over by one of these mythical men called Creatus until she becomes a woman. Then they begin a romantic relationship, despite the protests of the other Creatus. I got this book in exchange for a review

They Do Exist!
Where does Creatus rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
In the top 10 for sure. The narration and writing were excellent. Being paranormal, my favorite genre, was the reason for reading it.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Creatus?
I liked the fight when Vic was beating up on Michael thinking he was the rogue who just beat up on Reece and the following scenes of Michael expressing his love and the predicament of dealing with Reece.
Have you listened to any of Marcio Catalano’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I might have but don't remember. Loved his voice, so packed with emotion when needed, not mono toned or boring ever.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and I did. Very fast paced, never a dull moment, would recommend this book to any paranormal fan.

So Bad
This is so bad, it’s laughable. I literally laughed several times. Even Twilight was a better love story, and that’s saying something. The relationship between the two main characters was flat, forced, and rushed. There wasn’t even a tiny bit of build up. I’d even be willing to buy that Derek was in love with Chris because of his weird Creatus thing, but what is her excuse? She didn’t even know this guy’s last name and was all “I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you person I just met yesterday while I was on drugs and trying to off myself.” Ick. This is like a middle schooler’s Twilight fan fiction.
The characters are cliche and dull. The story is nothing new and not even a little exciting. The only thing that kept me listening was the curiosity about what Derek was. Even that reveal was underwhelming. But I will give the author props because it was at least somewhat original.
The narrator was the best part of this book and he wasn’t very good. He had a nice soothing voice though. This definitely isn’t the book for him.
Don’t spend money or a credit on this. Maybe give it a shot if you have the romance package... and are in middle school.

Abandoned after Chapter 11
Ugh...I love a good audio book to read me to sleep for a night of dreams but this one bored me and then annoyed me.
I got through Chapter 11 before I gave up. Maybe it gets better but I’m not willing to subject myself to any more of this tedious and a very slow build with unsympathetic characters.
Still not sure what the Creatus are and while I enjoy a bit of suspense or intrigued to pull me into the story, the lack of details made the “hero’s” decisions to come across as selfish and entitled.
No. Just no.

Couldn’t get passed the narrator
This book could have been ok, but 10-15 mins in and the narrator destroyed the book for me. I couldn’t listen to it any more, I don’t write reviews! this is my first, so I felt it was so bad i couldn’t go on listening to it. Sad! the writer is good but narrator not so much! And the only reason it has stars is because I can’t submit unless I give it a star which is stupid!.

Different take on the paranormal
Found it was refreshing to have a different type of character after reading so many shifter style books. Some of the reviews have said it is a bit far fetched Kris falling so heavily in love so quickly, but it can happen. Look forward to reading the next in the series.
