Publisher's summary

Joanna Grey injects the deadly poison into the chamber of the syringe - time after time. She's murdered before and she'll do it again. She's intelligent, educated, and beautiful.

At 35, Rylee Hayes is a respected homicide detective. Her best friends are her grandparents, her coonhound, and her partner - in that order. She's about ready to give up on the idea of a relationship. She hasn't seen the love of her life, Kenzie Bigham, since college.

At 34, Kenzie Bigham is the single mom of a 13-year-old, a church secretary, and a woman who's struggled much of her adult life with her own sexuality.

Their paths will cross when Rylee's new investigation involves members of Kenzie's congregation. They'll discover that the passage of time may have offered them a second chance at love - just as Joanna sights her next target. Will Rylee have what it takes to meet the challenge of a serial killer who's proven herself to be a more than worthy opponent?

Eh..

Narrator was too much or nut enough. It didn't feel believable. The story was ok but some of it just seemed odd, rushed, or didn't fit.

Want more...need more...how can she just kill like that. Justice is coming clearly. Of course Em. B makes the characters come to life, and gurl truly am alive and amped.

Worth listening to!

This book blew my mind when it came out, so when the audio version was released, I was super excited to hear it. I wasn't disappointed! I really enjoyed the narration from someone I hadn't heard narrate a thriller before, and I know there is more in the series so can't wait to check it out!!

Excellent Thriller!

I own several of this Authors other books yet I’ve never listened to an audiobook by this Author. So when I got the opportunity to listen to this particular book, I was more then happy to do so... One, simply for the fact I’m a fan of Crime Novels and Two because I’ve heard nothing but good things about this book... With that said, “Wow” what a thriller this book turned out to be. There was so much consistently going on threw out the book that it was hard for me to stop listen to it at any given time. The characters of Rylee, Kenzie and of course Abby are well written. The romance between the two main characters is well placed into the story and the insights of the actual killer just adds to the already addictive story. It’s an action packed book that’s filled with plenty of twists and turns. Also, the narration that’s done by Emily Beresford was spot on! There was nothing about this audiobook that I disliked and would definitely recommend...I’m now off to listen to the 2nd book in this series “Deadly Deception “. 5 stars ⭐️ across the board!

Engrossing

This novel is sick and wonderful all in one. The action starts and never stops. The religious premise is so real that this doesn't seem like fiction. It is a great Lesbian thriller that I highly recommend. I am looking for more Cade Brogan to enjoy. Emily Beresford did a wonderful job with narrating this novel. She did an incredible job bringing the emotions in the story to life.

Stop licking your lips!!

I definitely struggled to finish this. It had potential, but needs some work. There were too many repetitive phrases, especially about the characters licking their lips. My own lips were chapped just by reading variations of that phrase so many times. The love story between Rylee and Kenzie was too pressured. Sure, they were ex-lovers in college, but the way Rylee behaved about Kenzie having a child was over the top. I'd hope a real mother would take her behavior as the red flag it is, and dump her, instead of pushing her child to embrace their (2 week!) relationship. And having Rylee physically intimidate and threaten the daughter over her talking back to her mom, especially since she barely knew the kid was way too much. On the other hand, Kenzie is nothing, if not a perpetual victim, so I suppose behavior like this is to be expected. I'm just going to assume everything turns out fine in the sequel, because I can't bring myself to read it if it's written like this one.

Blowgun!

This is the first time I have read/listened to this author, but it won’t be my last. This reminds me of the Showtime series Dexter, but I can’t understand why the killings. Was Joan jealous of her victims or was she Purifying a Race? Off to my next adventure.
