Story
From the beginning, Geneen Roth was told she was too sensitive, too emotional, too curious, too demanding, too intense, and too big. Yet gaining and losing weight for decades did not improve her self-worth or reduce other people's criticisms. Like most women who struggle with their weight, she believed that if she could resolve what seemed to be the source of her self-hatred - how and what she ate - she would be thin, happy, and free. That belief, she discovered, was false.

Story
Success is not born out of skill, school, where we’re from, who we know, or what we scored on the SAT. None of us were born ready. None of us started life knowing how to fly a plane or launch a company or knit a sweater for our dog. But we are born with something more important than skills. We’re born with optimism - the initial seed for success. Optimism fuels the belief that you can be the one to create the good the world needs. But you’ve got to hone it. And practice it. And determine to live from it.

When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life - the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job - transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain - you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

All that changed when she met a girl named Sami, fell in love, and chose to leave behind those narrow boundaries in favor of a fuller and more vibrant life. In Worth It, Brit tells her story to inspire all of us to overcome our own fears - the kinds of fears that keep us from evolving beyond the narratives that have been handed to us by others.

Relying on extensive research and interviews, and carefully examined personal experience, The Likeability Trap delivers an essential examination of the pressure put on women to be amiable at work, home, and in the public sphere, and explores the price women pay for internalizing those demands. Rather than advising listeners to make themselves likeable, Menendez empowers them to examine how they perceive themselves and others and explores how the concept of likeability is riddled with cultural biases.

Burnout. Many women in America have experienced it. Sisters Emily Nagoski, PhD, and Amelia Nagoski, DMA, are here to help end the cycle of feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Instead of asking us to ignore the very real obstacles and societal pressures that stand between women and well-being, they explain with compassion and optimism what we’re up against - and teach us how to fight back.

Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Based on 12 years of pioneering research, Dr. Brené Brown dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and argues that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage. Brown explains how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity.

"Amber Rae is the Elizabeth Gilbert of her generation." (Stacy London, New York Times best-selling author of The Truth About Style)
Wonder is what we’re born with. Worry is what we learn. Now is the time to return to wonder.
Why do we hold back from pursuing what matters most? Why do we listen to the voice inside our head that tells us we're not good enough, smart enough, or talented enough? How can we move beyond the fear and doubt that prevents us from creating a life that reflects who we truly are?
Choose Wonder over Worry is your official invitation to face your fears, navigate your discomfort, and rewrite the "worry myths” in your mind that keep you from being your best and truest self. Journey with inspirational speaker and artist Amber Rae as she connects you with your voice of worry and wonder, teaches you to listen to your emotions rather than silence them, and encourages you to seize your dreams. Through a thoughtful blend of vulnerability, soulfulness, and science, Amber Rae guides you in expressing the fullness of who you are and the gifts you’re here to give. You don’t have to be held back by worry when wonder awaits you every moment of every day.

not for me
I'm sure that this book will be loved by someone. Someone will be inspired. Someone will say, "yes! This is what I needed to hear!" but that someone is not me. Everything in this book that was interesting to me was something I've heard before. I've read a lot of Seth Godin's books, and (not that he invented the genre, but still) a lot of this is rehashing ideas that he has covered very well. The relationship/love advice felt really out of place to me. (I've been in a healthy marriage for 13 years. Someone else might better appreciate it.) The foul language felt unprofessional. She sounded like a middle-school kid showing off by saying bad words. (Someone else might love her casual style. I won't listen to this again. I recommend Godin's Poke the Box for a better treatment of a lot of the same concepts (like fear and failure). For material specific to creating fine art, I highly recommend Art & Fear instead.

This book will make your life easier
I finished Amber Rae's 4 hour and ten minute audio book in one day. It was an immersive seminar about how to create that pivotal pause between our thoughts and our action. The thing we've learned from thought leaders like Mike Dooley, Shaman Durek, Louise Hay, Iyanla Vanzant, and Wayne Dyer is that our thoughts create our reality. Amber Rae gives dozens of pieces of practical application shifting yourself into a positive mindset from a spin-out. Without spiritually bypassing, she knows how to create a new and easier reality by embracing what each emotion we don't like can teach us. Feeling jealousy, imposter syndrome, or shame (to name a few) are yucky but Amber tells us how to become BFF with your shame in order to let it disappear. At a $25 cover price the peace of mind afforded by this book is worth 100 times that value. You deserve to feel good.

From worry to wonder.
When I started the book, I thought I wouldn't finish it. The first chapters, seemed interesting, but not for me. However, as I continued listening, I realized I identified with a lot of what the author what's expressing and ended up really enjoying the content. This book encourages you to dig in and find the truth about yourself, if you allow it to happen. The great variety of stories makes you remember at least one of yours and to apply the principles in real life. Who doesn't need a dose of truth, even if just once in a while? This will give that to you.

This book will light a fire in, under, and around you!
This book is a raw and real, yet loving invitation to live our highest selves. I recognized myself in the stories Amber told, and having the thought “oh, wow I’m not alone” which I wasn’t expecting in this sort of book—books like this can often just feel like an expert talking at you and feel unattainable. The relatable quality inspired me to make some important shifts in my world from the first day of listening. This book is one I’ll revisit again and again. Can’t wait to get my hard copy to work within!!

Common Sense Nothing New Here
This is a terrible book. I wanted to like it. I am a worrier and loved the title, but in fact it’s a lot of regurgitated stuff from other books I have read/listened. Not clear or actionable. Also language is kind of fluffy and not direct and to the point. I don’t know what stepping into my power or truth really means. I need something more straightforward and to the point.

Inspirational
I’ve purchased both the audible and the hard copy of this book and it’s absolutely been life changing for me. Her candor and ability to connect has had me retuning to listen to the book 6 times in the last year and a half. I encourage everyone I know to listen to this book as there is something for everyone to learn or understand. Her ability to go deep and open up the raw truths that people are afraid of in a way that feels like you’re talking to your best friend (Amber Rae if you’re reading this I’m available for new amazing friends!) will continue to keep me coming back for more. Read Something Else!
Two words- 1. privilege 2. ego Read this book if you want to hone in and cultivate your existing privilege (white, cishet, not on public assistance, able to travel the world at a whim, probably drinks kombucha because it 'tastes good' preferred) and master pretending your ego is some sort of sign from God. If you're looking for legitimate story telling and helpful advice on life's challenges, read literally anything else. Bummer because the author's insta presence had some easy to read and utilize graphics which is how I came across her book. Howeve, this book did her zero favors.
