Loved this book.

I previously thought Tonya Dalton owned a planner company, but after listening to her book, I now understand she’s a productivity guru who offers tools to help people achieve their goals. I really enjoyed hearing all her thoughts and I’m looking forward to implementing a lot of her ideas so I can live centered on my priorities.

Have JOMO not FOMO!

I’m a magician... you know a wife, mom, full-time employee, daughter, friend, school and church volunteer, neighbor, and in charge of morning carpool... just a few things. Not much. Tonya describes me over and over again in her book, The Joy of Missing Out: Live More by Doing Less.

Because of her, I am now a recovering To Do List junkie. Before reading this book the only way I felt like I was truly accomplishing anything was by crossing off a task on my list. I'm one of those people who would add things that I already completed just because it made me feel better about my day. Now I focus on my priorities vs my to dos. Just one of the many game changers I took away.

This book was EXACTLY what I needed at this point in my life. It was real and forced me to look at my week (my 168 hours) differently. Tonya didn't just tell me what I needed to do though, she gave me the tools to work through how to make those changes. Day-by-day I'm implementing her suggestions. JOMO is truly a liberating shift in perspective and I highly recommend it to anyone feeling the pressure (and who isn't).

Even though I received an advance reader’s copy from Nelson Books for an honest review, I purchased the audiobook as well. Everything shared in this review are my own thoughts.

It makes me feel like less of a bad mom

When I started out as a mother I had so many aspirations for the kind of stay at home mom I would be, and let’s face it, I’m not that woman. Being a stay at home mom doesn’t bring me joy. My kids being excited to see me after a day out by myself that I earned after a week of arguments brings me joy. Time alone by myself to work on my aspirations and spend time with my friends outside of motherhood brings me joy and I’m thankful I had this book to help me realize I don’t HAVE to do it all if it doesn’t make me happy.

Top Shelf

This book will remain close to my bedside as I ordered a physical copy before I was even halfway thru the audible. There are so many great takeaways and reminders for all us woman that I can’t think of one female I know who couldn’t benefit from reading it. The suggestions and steps are all immediately actionable and I will be reading and rereading chapters and marking them up for years to come. The JOMO is a must read.

Sample was misleading

The Sample for this book was misleading. Every chapter sounds like and into to a book. I stopped listening after chapter 4
