Too much preaching and philosophizing by the author. Felt like half the book…over and over this sermon about good and evil.

I like the characters in the stories, which is why I have kept up with this series. But enough of this repetitive Ing and navel gazing about good and evil.

loved this series from the start. and now as it finishes I hate for it to end. great twists. and despite that it is in the setting of murder and mahem.. there is humor love and hope mixed to take the edge off. despite being tired., I could not stop listening the last 2 hours!

Couldn’t someone have edited this

If you’re going to make up history, you should at least know a little bit about the era you’re working with. An example — despite the history presented here, no declaration was ever delivered from Charlotte North Carolina to DC in 1775. Nothing was. Nothing could’ve been. DC Didn’t exist in 1775. Mistakes like these are very distracting and a good editor should’ve caught them.

Nice ending to the series

Steven James always tells stories with twists that keeps you guessing. His bad guys are really bad, his daughter is very typical of millinials, and there is a touch of family life that is enjoyable. There is no cussing and is tastefully done.

Love this series

I have enjoyed every book of this series. I wish there were more! What a talented author. The books tie together seamlessly without being redundant. And yet, they can stand alone. I have read and listened to the series multiple times. The narrator is fantastic. His narration makes you feel that there are different characters narrating the story.

Patrick Bowers series review...

Richard Ferrone is an Excellent narrator whose voice is absolutely perfect for this type of book. I have enjoyed listening to him narrate Sanford's Lucas Davenport books and he does these equally as good.

I started with the last book written (Every Crooked Path) which is actually a prequel to the series. I enjoyed that book so much I decided to try the rest of this series.
These books are full of slice and dice 'em (blood and gore) and obviously some pretty vicious characters, so I would not recommend them to the someone who doesn't like that in a story. However if this doesn't bother you then this is a really good series. The back story behind Patrick Bowers is interesting. There is a little bit of religion thrown in via his stepdaughter but not ridiculously so, nor is the author trying to shove it down your throat.
For the most part the series deals with Bowers and a single nemesis (Richard Bask). There are of course other really wicked people throughout who bring their own bloody agendas to the mix but somehow Bask seems to have a hand in their story also.
I won't give anything away and spoil this series for anyone, I thoroughly enjoyed it and HIGHLY RECOMMEND all of the books.
