Publisher's summary

Never one to linger, computer security expert Charity Puck doesn’t expect to be romanced by the small-town charm of her latest job. But when her RV rolls into Plentiful, Wisconsin, nestled along the breathtaking shores of Lake Superior, she’s convinced nothing could be more alluring - until she gazes into the delectable hazel eyes of her new client.

Underestimated due to the crutches on his arms and braces on his legs, CEO and researcher Gulliver Winsome doesn’t expect his job to put his life in danger. But as he rushes to bring an eco-friendly pesticide to market, in an attempt to save the pollinators, he finds himself the target of a sinister plot - uncovered by the tiny blonde dynamo he hired to fix his servers. Someone is trying to steal Gulliver’s research, and they’ll stop at nothing to bury the evidence.

With feelings in bloom and the would-be couple’s lives in peril, it’s up to Charity to decipher the clues before they both end up in the Lady of the Lake’s cold-water castle.

Great story and narration

Katie writes amazing stories with brave, determined and fantastic characters.

Gulliver is so kind, a very smart man and is on the verge of a great discovery. He tends to be a loner and never expects to meet someone like Charity.

Charity is in town to do business and then move on. She’s not one to stay in one place for very long. She’s had a tough past and doesn’t want to get tied to one place or anyone for longer than necessary.

Once they begin working together they are a forced to be recommend with. Their is an undeniable attraction but due to past events they are hesitant to act on those feelings.

Another wonderful story from Katie!

I listened to the audiobook and Sarah Colton did a fantastic job with the narration.

Endearing characters between love and danger

BUTTERFLIES AND HAZEL EYES presents two endearing characters meant for each other: computer security expert Charity Puck and CEO and researcher Gulliver Winsome. The story balances both romance and suspense: their feelings for each other blossom while at the same time, she uncovers a plot that puts his life in peril. It attempts to stop him from bringing an eco-friendly pesticide to market and steal his research.

I enjoyed Katie Mettner’s romantic writing in previous books but this is my first listen to her work. It illustrates the lives of ordinary people, with their faults and handicaps, and celebrates the ways their love for each other opens the heart.

Sarah Colton’s narration does justice to the writing. She has a warm voice with ‘controlled blaze’ with the necessary range to bring the story to life.

Five stars.

Sweet story!

Gulliver is a researcher intent on finding a formula for a non-toxic, eco-friendly pesticide that will allow butterflies to thrive. His research is going quickly and it appears that a solution is imminent, but he's started to receive threats. There are other researchers following his work closely and perhaps they are trying to find his research notes. Charity is essentially an anti-hacker hacker, and Gulliver sends for her to see if she can find any clues in his computer system. When she arrives, she shows Gulliver what needs to be done and it flies right over his head, so he's immediately convinced that he did the right thing. Gulliver is stricken and he has the feeling that she just might be the one. Charity is drawn to Gulliver, the work he is doing and the beautiful butterflies that he loves so much. It's a really sweet, romantic story and as she does in all of her books, Katie Mettner writes about real disabilities or human conditions with a deft hand and a soft touch.
The narration by Sarah Colton was beautifully done. Her dynamic, well-modulated voice and inflection gave each character a unique personality and temperament as she brought them to life.

A real romance

I love that this book has a real romance slowly build between the characters. The characters are we developed, emotionally flawed, and both have physical challenges that play into how they interact with others and the world around them. The book features a mystery and action as well which is all well written. the narrator did a great job.
