    Very good content...

This book has very good content but is horrible as as audio book due to having to listen to five minute long code descriptions including curly braces and tabs.

I honestly could have gotten so much from just being able to listen to Java concepts over and over but the code description made it unbearable so I will have to go out and buy the book also even though I hate reading.

    Meaty Java Book

I bought the first book in this series, so I knew what to expect. This book has a lot of detail. The author does a great job explaining the functions of Java and following up with examples. Listen with a pencil and notebook handy for the code!

    Don't read the code

It was fine until the narrator started reading through each line of code...it should just refer people to the book of they need to see specific lines.

    Very interesting book

This book gives information that I have failed to find in so many others. It's not just a step by step how-to-do, it explains how it works in detail. At the end there is a simple walk-through that meant so much more, due to the preceding chapters.

    Useful book

I have to say I'm very impressed. I hate java, it's far from easy and I've done workshops that left me confused. The difference in this book is the detailed discussion on how it was developed and how to use it.

Concepts for the Fundamentals of Object Oriented

The book explains Java in clear concise terms. The code is very well explained terms and boxed in neat boxes. The code is elegant and at the end a minimalist GUI is presented using object oriented paradigms. Concepts are explained in simple terms and book can be used by a senior in high school or undergrad students. Lot of downloadable code is also present and will be highly useful.

    Completely unsuited to audio format.

This book is terrible to listen to. It actually reads the sample programs character by character, which takes ages and is painful to follow.
main open parenthesis string open square bracket close square bracket args close parenthesis open curly bracket new line.......
I am guessing that the good reviews are fake. They have incredibly suspicious date stamps. Amazon should clamp down on this sort of thing. Supposedly they have a lot of smart people. I'm sure someone could write an algorithm to red-flag this rubbish.

    very satisfied

The book is very descriptive and the examples are broken down enough for the listener to follow. I have not finished it but so far it's the best source I have. Recommended for beginners

    outstandin

This is a fine book. It is useful both for programmers who are learning Java or even for non-programmers starting with their first language. The object-oriented elements of Java, general OO concepts are explained exceptionally well. I have this book from cover to cover to brush up on my rusty Java. Java, I learned, is very close to C++ (which is mostly what I have been familiar with) but designed for a different platform (the web, or other devices) and for portability

    decent learning tool

If you are a beginner, this is a fantastic book for you. If you work through it, you will have a good understanding of java to build on. I know countless hours of console programming can make you want to roll your face on the keyboard, but don't try to build a house from the roof down. Get a strong foundation and build u

    recommemded

This is more than a simple beginner's guide. It may beyond the scope for a first time programmer who is taking a leap into object oriented programming. For those who have done a little bit of programming and wish to push their skills forward, this is an excellent book, especially for those with more structured and logical thinking

    awesomee

    love at first byte
I am so glad you actually discuss Netbeans and IDE's!
Other programming books want you to suffer looking for syntax errors and it burns out the energy to learn.
    So far awesome, practical information
