A very necessary book for beginners like me.

A very necessary book for beginners like me. Before I read this book I already knew a little about objective oriented programming, and a little about on how to make a Class, an Object, a Function, etc in Python. So reading this book is quite easy for me. I learned a lot from this book.

This is a great intro book for those looking

This is a great intro book for those looking for a gentle introduction to programming. That said it claims to be an introduction to computer science, which it is not. It offers almost no coverage of theoretical computing issues that are the hallmark of the classic intro CS books.

This is the first college text book

This is the first college text book I actually want to keep! It is incredibly simple and explanatory and I recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn Python.

I am very impressed with the content of the book.

I am very impressed with the content of the book. While the book makes use of Python as a programming language - the language is merely a vehicle to relay the more important underlying Computer Science. The book builds nicely from simplicity to more advanced topics and covers the basics of programming in a very accessible manner.

This book is good for beginners since

This book is good for beginners since it has examples of Python programs throughout the whole book. The one thing I wish that this textbook had was solutions to the problems in the back of each chapter. It explains how to use the math library along with other functions, however, there is only one to two pages about the random library and no pages about the time library.

Step by Step Method

this book covers ALL aspects of Python, not just graphics. I'd gotten another Python book a few years ago - which I'd since forgotten - but it did not cover graphics. Also, to repeat from my headline, this book has great exercises for learning the language.

Its a brand new book,

its a brand new book, still in the wrap when delivered. it's a dry college textbook, not particularly interesting but my son is taking the class and wasn't allowed to take his book home from school, so we bought this one so he could practice at home. So far he has not done any practice at home, I guess I need to tell him to do his homework.

I am using the book for a reference in the Python

I am using the book for a reference in the Python classes I teach. I found the book to be very useful in presenting Computer Science foundations. Using Python as a vehicle to demonstrate those fundamentals is great. I believe this text could be used at the high school level prior to college.

Very easy to read and understand.

Very easy to read and understand. I do like this book more as a physical copy rather than an eBook but nice to have on a spur of the moment outing

The links quoted in the book have clearly changed

The links quoted in the book have clearly changed since publication and there’s no easy explanation readily available in how to overcome this. Took me days of trying Google suggestions to fix.
Really frustrating because it will put people off. I was fortunate and resolved with the assistance of a professional Python programmer.
