Publisher's Summary

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update", before "Sarah Palin", Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV.

She has seen both of those dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Doesn't hold my interest...

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Only if they are Saturday Night Live fans and like Tina Fey. And like this type of book.

Would you ever listen to anything by Tina Fey again?

Maybe

Have you listened to any of Tina Fey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No.

Could you see Bossypants being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No

Any additional comments?

I just couldn't get into this book. I would go for days without picking up my ipod to listen to it. I like Tina Fey and I loved her impersonation of Sara Palin. And I think there were some interesting parts to it, but it's just not something that held my interest. I am about half way through it and probably will not finish listening to it. Sorry, Tina.

Not Impressed

It was often hard to hear the end of her sentences. The story was alright, but not fantastic. I'm not entirely sure what she was going for, and I'm not sure she was either. She came off a bit self-absorbed, but really what else should I expect from someone talking about herself? Maybe I'm just not the autobiography type. Meh.

Not getting why this is so highly regarded.

What disappointed you about Bossypants?

It just wasn't that funny.
Most jokes were just mildly amusing tidbits about things I cared little about.
Despite the short length the jokes seemed few and far between.

Has Bossypants turned you off from other books in this genre?

Nope.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Tina Fey?

Possibly, but I'd probably not buy one written by her.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

There were a few funny bits but too much space between.
Fey does an ok job as a narrator.

Could not relate

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book would be interesting and entertaining to middle age women and anyone who like New York. If you are not in those two groups, you may not relate to the story very well. Tina Fey's overview of her life describes an average woman looking at life choices from a privileged point of view. There were jokes in the book but it is not a comedy book, it is a biography with snarky comments.

Meh ... Not Very Funny

What did you like best about Bossypants? What did you like least?

I wasn't terribly excited about the book overall once I got more than halfway through it. There is a section about photoshoots that was a hint funny - otherwise, it was very bland in comparison to her overall brand of humor.

What was most disappointing about Tina Fey’s story?

The book overall isn't laugh out loud funny and not very entertaining. It pains me to report this as I bought the book based on the glowing hysterical-boasting reviews and I love Tina Fey.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

At times the audio fades in and out.

Was Bossypants worth the listening time?

No.

Meh...

She's funny but there's not much too interested. Fast read at least she doesn't draw it out too much. I don't think people care that much about her relatives but she puts them in there a lot.

it's all about Tina and she is already overeposed!

What disappointed you about Bossypants?

No real insights here. Very superficial story all about Tina

How could the performance have been better?

Speak more slowly. She mumbled at times.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

There were a few funny spots.

Disappointing

I am puzzled by the fact that most readers have given this book 5 stars. I have listened to perhaps 20 audiobooks in the past couple years, and this is the first one that I really am struggling to finish. I expected the book to be hilarious, and, having gone through now 4/5 of the book, I have only laughed a few times. I agree with the reviewer who noted that much of the humor is woman-centric, so perhaps it would be a much more engaging read for a woman. It feels like a lazy book to me, like Tina Fey just whipped it out, without putting out the effort to say more interesting and witty things.

Tina Fey is not my kind of funny.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

There were parts of the book that were funny but most of it is overly graphic descriptions about puberty, sex and other things I will forever have a unwanted visual of.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

didn't make it to the end.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Tina Fey?

no. probably not.

Was Bossypants worth the listening time?

not to me.

Boring As F**k

Would you try another book from Tina Fey and/or Tina Fey?

Hell No!

What do you think your next listen will be?

Yes Please

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tina Fey?

Dont even care

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Bossypants?

The Book

Any additional comments?

OMG! All the good reviews had me thinking I was in for a real treat. NOT! What the hell!? This book was so boring. It's like this, if you are a hard critic when it comes to comedy, you will not like this book. But if you are easily amused, go for it. I really wish I could get my money back.
