Publisher's Summary

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update", before "Sarah Palin", Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV.

She has seen both of those dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Not what I was expecting

Given Tina Fey's persona, Bossypants comes across as mundane and rather whiny. Entertaining in some parts, but I wouldn't listen again.

Thought it'd be funnier

I love Tina Fey. This was an interesting read. I honestly thought it would be funnier. I was underwhelmed. Some good nuggets in there. Ehh, read if you are bored.

Not worth the time

Would you try another book from Tina Fey and/or Tina Fey?

No.

Would you ever listen to anything by Tina Fey again?

No.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes.

Did Bossypants inspire you to do anything?

Yes. To stop swearing.

Any additional comments?

Cursing is not attractive at all.

There is too much cursing for my taste.

Not Funny

Any additional comments?

Interesting to know a bit about Ms. Fey. But I did not find this funny. Not my style of humor.

We are each the hero of our own story

I expected better audio quality and that the anecdotes would be funnier. I did get to learn just how far apart Liz Lemon and Tina Fey really are as people. Never noticed the scar on Tina Fey's face -- now I keep looking for it. Amusing, but I wanted more from an award winning comedy writer and actress that blue liquid into a maxi-pad.

Very Disappointing

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

After reading the reviews of the readers’ feedback I purchased the book and was very disappointed that it was not funny or entertaining as the readers have mentioned… I actually find it annoying and boring. The fact that the author reads is does not add to the experience. She is talking about trivial things and gives her own opinion which is neither original nor adds value to the view on the facts or situation she is describing. I went half way through and had to abandon this book. Such a waste of time and money! Probably people who were watching her show or are her admirers would find this book useful as a source to get to know the author intimately.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I would go with an author who I have read before and enjoyed and would not experiment based on the best selling list books.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappoitment.

It was just OK

With all the buildup from previous reviews, I expected something really hilarious. The hilarious moment came in one of the first few chapters when she talked about "coming of age." After that it was just so-so. A few moments of minor chuckling, but nothing like I was led to believe. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this book.

Not funny, boring and could not wait for it to end

I know this book has gotten a lot of high marks, but this one was just not for me. I think I laughed once during this entire book. I like 30 Rock but it is not one of my favorites, still this book pales in comparison to the show. I'm sure that Tina is a very funny person but I feel that this book has been over-edited and as a result it is just a bunch of watered down unfunny stories.

Not as funny as I expected

I love Tina Fey's work on SNL. I really expected to love this book. Many of the reviewers talked about laughing out loud. That rarely happened to me while reading this. The book is sometimes funny and I enjoyed some of the background stories. But I found the author somewhat self-absorbed. I don't know what I was expecting, but I came away from this book liking Tina Fey a little bit less.

Tina Fey broke my new SUV

With 3124 on my new SUV's odometer, I was laughing so hard listening to Tina that I clipped a cement highway divider driving to work.

That's not the funny part.

I kept on laughing.. Tina Fey is like comedic Oxytocin.

Buy this book. Keep both hands on the wheel.
