Publisher's summary

Betrayed by allies, Commodore Gage and the Exiled Fleet must break free before the Daegon strike.

The Cathay Empire holds Gage responsible for a sneak attack on its forces; a crime Albion's last fleet did not commit. While Gage rots in the prison cell, the Daegon hunter Tiberian comes to collect him. Tolan, the Faceless spy, hatches a plan to smuggle Gage out of captivity, but risks an all-out war in the process.

With the Reich and the Daegon closing in, Albion’s Exiled Fleet must walk a narrow and dangerous path to free Gage and strike at the source of the invasion before all hope is lost.

Fox Continues to Impress

I very much enjoy this Richard Fox series. I enjoy how he successfully blends several concepts I enjoy from other authors into an entertaining yarn. Mr. Fox builds characters for whom you both cheer, and jeer. I look forward to listening to the next series entry.

a cut above

I listen to alot of space audio books some are better the others. I injoy them all but this one stands out for me. it's is very different them the common aliens attack and earth must fight a hopeless battle for survival but yet it is. well your going to have to listen to get what I mean. I think it's the characters that make this story and that it has a bit of royalty and swashbuckling to it. And the different way the universe is in the future

Great But Too Short & Too Long

This is one of my favorite space opera series, with phenomenal narration, but each book is too short and the interval between them is far too long.

Please get Book 6 out soon!

Moves the story forward nicely

Richard Fox provides the listener an detailed look into the Kong empire and the lords and nobles who run it. It's definitely takes on the appearance of past Asian dynasties on Earth with the emperor representing an almost godlike figure. At the end of Book 4 we found Gage captured and held prisoner by the Cathay Empire and most of this book evolves around a few factions wanting to get hold of him to either free or kill him. There's a lot of intrigue that follows in this pursuit.

Up in space, there are other other fleets involved in addition to the 11th, each of which have their own agendas. Then there is arch-badboy, the Daegan hunter Tiberian, ripping his way through other factions barriers in a tunnel vision focus on killing Gage.

Even though I'm still having a hard time accepting that Earth's distant future last hope rest with a monarchical empire, it's still an interesting story, all the more so with Mark Boyett's excellent performance.

A fun sci fi tale with lots of action, world development and payoff!

The title pretty much covers it. I also enjoyed the narration which expertly gave each character a distinct and appropriate voice

A terrific series

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this series, it’s been years since I started the first book, a unique and deep universe created, truly nasty villains, great narration above average action, grading the series as a whole, easy to recommend to mil Sci Fi fans
