Publisher's summary

Elizabeth was not off to a good start in life, unwanted even before she was born. Fortunately, the tiny baby was placed in the loving care of her paternal grandparents, where she lived for the first three years of her life. Then, her abusive father arbitrarily decided that she belonged with her parents and unceremoniously ripped her from the only safe, secure home she had ever known.

In spite of her turbulent childhood and teen years, Elizabeth managed to go to college and become a physical therapist. Faced with tragedy after tragedy, she decided to temporarily leave her old New England farmhouse and hit the road as a traveling physical therapist. You'll laugh and cry with her as she traverses the country in her 40-foot fifth wheel with Gracie Allen, her faithful cat. As she survives a broken heart, a blow-out on a busy Florida freeway, a tornado in Kentucky, and a pain-crazed, gun-wielding patient, she grows ever more dependent upon the God who promised to never leave her nor forsake her.

Journey with Elizabeth as she makes "forever friends" from coast-to-coast, savors the beauty that is America, and cherishes the home on a rocky Maine shore that is her anchor point throughout her travels-and realize that the same God who never left her alone will never leave you, either.

Good ol’ fashion fun

I was looking for a different book (same title, different author) when Audible suggested this, and I’m glad they did.

I enjoy a well written novel, fact or fiction, like anyone else but after 100’s of these, it was time to venture outside of the box. Like most of those books, it took some grit to get through the first chapter or two. However, this one was so challenging trying to follow the storyline I almost gave up. Not a quitter, I continued on and glad I did. There really are enough gems here to be worth a read/listen (although you’ll hear many repeats). It’s so refreshing to read a story from a grateful person who isn’t so angry at life. She overcame her trauma, like many of us do, and made lemonade out of lemons. Yay!

In 5th grade, a teacher taught us a bit about the world but promised us that if we traveled the states before we were 30, it would be worth it. Basically, this was my vicarious trip, across and back again, with lots of quips and stories to warm the soul. The ending is a treat - I love the herding dog’s POV! I wish there were more from this author and will not shy away from others like this. Give it a try, you’ll be glad you did.
