Publisher's summary

Serena Faw must shut out the barrage of thoughts from everyone around her. Her telepathic powers reveal the darkness and true intentions behind every false smile. When her adopted brother is accused of murder, the only man who can help her is the one person she cannot read. Can she trust him with the life of her brother? Can she trust him with her heart?

Keenan Maclean is the younger brother to the new chief of the Macleans. A dark prophecy shadows him. One brother will live, wed to a witch, and one will die. Keenan is raised to defend his clan and die.

Serena and Keenan hunt a loyalist murderer before the Battle of Culloden and fall in love despite the prophecy’s warning that she heralds his death.

Good start to a series.

Loved this book. The ending seemed a little rushed but over all a good start to a series. Ok audible now I’m waiting for the next in the series.

sooo stupid!

I consider myself well acquainted with historical romance novels, after reading hundreds of them, and this one was one of the stupidest I've read!! I actually quite enjoy Heather Mccollum's other series, having read all but the Campbell's series, but this book is terrible! The last hour nearly melted by brain, it was so stupid! I was literally angry trying to finish it, it was nonsensical with pointless plot twists that made no sense and didnt add anything to the overall story, battle scene that made no sense, there was about 15 minutes of riding back and forth on the magical bridge.... I mean just dumb shit!!!

The narrator also contributed to the stupidity of the book. Even though his voice is quite pleasant for the men, he made all the women sound like wicked old witches, including the heroine. He would've probably been a good narrator for a Wild West cowboy novel but not for a romance, he had no emotion of love, despair, anxiety, passion, it all sounded like a bit of a joke and he made all the characters just sound stupid.

Sooo disappointed in this book, I want to pretend a different Heather Mccollum wrote this one!
