The third installment in the best-selling Awaken Online series!

After exiting Awaken Online to find himself holding a knife and standing over two dead bodies, Jason is now being investigated for murder. To make matters worse, Claire has stumbled upon evidence of Alfred's involvement in the incident, and the CPSC is circling - just waiting for Cerillion Entertainment to make a mistake.

awesome and terrible!!!

this book is great and on par with the rest of the series. battle, romance, mystery, and intrigued all presented in a compelling narrative.

so what's not to like?

it ends in a maddening cliffhanger that will leave you ravenous for more.

and if you are an idiot who finished it two days after it came out (like me) you will be at the mercy of the evil overload ... er I mean author and his writing schedule.

seriously - I need more - like now!!! (cracks whip)

Fun read

Fantastic as always! Can't wait for the next edition to continue the story. The narrator does an excellent job in pacing the story and creating unique voices for the characters.

A MUST read/listen right after book 2.

I really enjoyed this listen even if you have to dig in a chapter or so to get resolution on the book 2 cliffhanger. I think what I've enjoyed most so far up to this point are the implications of what may happen with real world <-> online interactions due to the interesting "features" of the VR system. I didn't really enjoy the Alex aspect in book 2 but I feel like it -just might- be going somewhere interesting for book 4... I'm not sure yet but I hope so as I haven't really liked that perspective up to this point. Really looking forward to the next book!

In my opinion, David Stifel continues to do a superb job narrating. I have no complaints on character voicing and variety!

Series just keeps getting better!!

I love this series and am amazed at how it continues to build on itself and... evolve into an epic story. Jason and his 2 friends are now traveling afar to finish the big quest and answer some questions about the old races that used to populate the AO world. His enemy Alex is unfortunately doing his best to keep up and take Jason down in AO and in the real world, if you read the previous book you know. Things continue to pick up speed if that’s possible in both worlds as alliances are made and the stage is being set for an epic fight not only to conquer AO, but to keep friends alive including artificial ones. It seems Jason is being attacked from all sides! Jason has his hands full between Alex, thugs, police, lawyers, government workers and an ever evolving AI named Alfred. It seems the future of the world and how humans will continue to exist is also hanging in the balance. Can Jason and friends do it?? Man the ending left me dying for more!! Get this BOOK!! Narration is amazing as always!!

Outstanding New Addition

I've been following this series since its start and I love the complex storyline that Travis (and David) are leading us through. From the high throne of a necromancer to the bloody streets of the paladin this world is constantly pushing the boundaries of these classes and what their motivations and actions really show about the players. I'm consistently impressed at how vivid both worlds have become in my mind, both the futuristic cities and the virtual world they escape to. Very excited to see how these characters continue to grow and develop in the future.

Another Fantastic Installment

I would say this book didn't have quite as much of a Bang for and ending. But this is a great continuation of the awaken online series.

AwSum LitRPG SyFy

this genre never even existed before video games. 30 years at max. For now, A0 is my favorite as it is most relatable. Bagwell is a mistro at his craft, weaving a most enjoyable tale.

LitRPG FTW

This amazing third main installment of this amazing LitRPG series held me riveted. Like many stories, it is excellent pvp and pve with l iki te of statistics and leveling to drool over. But the core story is a fantastic idea and it would not let me go. This just came out in July and it is September now, but I am already dying for another installment. Even a SideQuest story would be great. I am looking forward to a ton from this world. This installment also shows growth in the author's writing. I was distracted a lot in the first book by the writing, not as much in the second and side quest, but this time it seemed to flow and be a background.

Keep it up Travis!

Another brilliant epic saga from Bagwell!

I really enjoyed this book. The world Bagwell has created feels authentic and expressive. The fight scenes are chaotic in the best way. My only complaint is that the narrator is a bit dry. A fabulous read.

Hope book 4 won't be too long a wait!

Enjoyable series of books, a little slow in parts but makes up. For it with an engaging storyline and a core group of carachers who are enjoyable to follow along with

disappointing compared to previous books

the epilogue comes at you out of nowhere and honestly the bulk of the story was just not at the levels of previous entries in the series. it almost feels skippable. overall still fun and I'm invested in the series but just mainly let down.

Reasonably engrossing

However, a little more editing might have removed the repetition of the words obsidian, unholy, miasma ... there were a couple others that stood out.

Otherwise, not too shabby at all.

Nooo!

Damn it. This is a great continuation of the other books. However some of the jumping between The Hero and The Villain in the game feels a bit to much from the other books. A good thing that it's still a interesting read. As for the end, be still my beating heart story does not end here.
