Publisher's summary

"When we see London, we will stroll along the River Thames and dance beneath a new moon to music only we can hear. Romance will envy what we have. It will be a red dress night, Abbey, like you always dreamed of....”

But her dream would never come. When his three-act play is obtained by the Royal Court Theater, Derrick Landers, a young, aspiring playwright, travels to London with hopes of beginning a new life with Abigail. The intensity of his love for Abbey will be tested beyond unimaginable limits in the story of A Red Dress Night.

J Hirtle, author of The Last Storyteller - Back Porch Ramblings & Surges of Sensibility, has again composed a collection of short stories that will move the listener to tears of sadness and sentiments of joy. Add laughter and pillow-pondering to this list that will have you wanting more from A Red Dress Night.

Beautiful revival of the lost art of storytelling

Heart-renching and beautifully written. Honest and curious. Snapshots into the intricate stories of our lives. An ode to our humanness. Finding beauty in misery.

A Love Story

Author, J Hirtle begins his book with these words, "I want to tell you a love story". And he does. His love stories are filled with pain. Love stories without romance or sweaty flesh ruining your silk sheets, but he gives you real-feel-it-your-gut pain. From the pain felt by a young husband in the title story, A Red Dress Night, to the pain of a group of friends in the Spirit of 76, or the pain a father feels when his daughter is bullied (The Bullying Grounds). This is Hirtle's second collection of short stories in The Last Storyteller trilogy. He has again teamed with Lou Del Bianco, a marvelous narrator whose voice put me to bed during the cold nights of December. Get this book before the sun goes down, if for no other reason than to listen to Del Bianco narrate Guinevere's Lovers. This may be Hirtle's finest. I am looking forward to ringing in the New Year with the final book in the trilogy, Whisper Dancing.
