Publisher's summary

Yogi Kate must clear her name of murder in this charming yoga mystery.

When Kate Davidson gets an offer to teach yoga classes to wedding guests at the Elysian Springs resort, she jumps at the opportunity, even though it means being forced to endure the wedding ceremony of the center's two caretakers.

Avoiding the M-word turns out to be the least of Kate's problems when a wedding guest is found floating face-down in the resort's hot tub, shortly after a loud, public (and somewhat embarrassing) fight with Kate. The police pick Kate as their number-one suspect, so she's forced to team up with boyfriend Michael, best friend Rene, and German shepherd sidekick Bella to find the real killer. But they'll have to solve the murder before the police arrest Kate, or her next gig may last a lifetime—behind bars.

Murder, Love, & Yoga

Tracy Weber is a new author to me and Anne James is a new narrator. I really enjoyed this book. It has so much in it. Murder, romance, love, humor, hope and self development. As a German Shepherd owner, I could relate to so many of the antics of Bella and what one does for their fur baby. This book is original, a clean listen, and oh so good. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook upon my request. I think the audio version of this book would be better than the print version because of the humor and the way it was delivered. Also, the narrator did a great sense of urgency and had so many emotions, that one would not get from reading the book. I will definitely look for more books by this author and narrator.

I'm loving this series

Any additional comments?

For a quiet yoga instructor, Kate manages to get into a whole heap of bother on a regular basis. This time she has to clear her name in a murder investigation. She is a flawed character who seems to get into verbal battles quite easily. I would have liked her to listen and talk more to Michael instead of jumping to conclusions about what's on his mind. The mystery had me completely stumped and I enjoyed following the progress of the case to the end. Kate can handle herself but I'd like to see Michael take more part in helping her solve the mysteries. This was a good, fun, mystery and I would recommend it to all fans of the genre. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading book one though because it's good and it introduces us to Kate, Michael and Bella right from the beginning.

I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy from the author.

Worry Wort

This was my first by this author. The book was well written and the story line great. The main character could be annoying at times but over all it was a great book. It kept me guessing till the end who the killer was. Look forward to seeing more of these in audio book form. I received this book as a gift in exchange for an honest review.

Great Series!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is the second book in the Downward Dog Mystery series written by Tracy Weber and narrated by Anne James. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises.

The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

A killer retreat

I received this audio in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really fun story! Unlike most murder mysteries, you really get a good feel for the characters and a great dislike(like everyone else) for the victim, before the murder takes place. The story is fast paced and moves along very nicely. The characters are really unique and/or quirky. It's interesting to see such a group in the same story! I really enjoy the book! Nice narration as well!

A must listen !

I'm a fan of reading this author's books, and have been eager to get into the audio versions. I wasn't disappointed, the narrator was super and brought a new level to my reader experience.

It was great to hear the characters come to life as the narrator fluctuated her voice for each and also changed tones for the scenes. It was very well read.

I feel like this series would be great to turn into a huge production of voices as the author gives such a variety to the listener and reader. If you are looking for that perfect audio book for a summer listen look no further than"A Killer Retreat"

Guessing Till The End

A Killer Retreat was such a fun listen and it totally had me guessing "who done it" longer than most cozy mysteries I read. The characters were well developed and narrator Anne James did a great job bringing them to life. I am looking forward to reading/listening to more in this series since this was the first I have read from this Author.

Kate needs to grow up

This story was not the author’s best. I found myself disliking the heroine, her friend, and the person she left in charge of her business.- I have the book in e-book and audio. I do not recommend the audio version. I was quickly annoyed by Kate’s indecisiveness. As for her friend Rene – she’d be gone in a New York minutes with all the crap she pulled. She just didn’t act like a real friend. Rene was concerned only about Rene. The story murder wasn’t hard to solve even though there were plenty of suspects. I couldn’t wait for this to end.
The written version was better.

A very fun cozy mystery!

If you're in the mood for a fun and easy cozy mystery, this is a great series for you. The narration by Anne James is very good. She has nice inflection in her voice, and a variety of voices for all of the different characters. This is just the type of book I like to listen to when I have other things I'm working on at the same time, because it's not difficult to follow and goes really quickly. It has a good sense of humor to it, and doesn't take itself too seriously, like some mystery novels can. The other good thing about this series is that you can easily pick up a book anywhere in the series, if you are able to score a good deal on one. This was my first Downward Dog Mystery, and now I plan on getting others in the series. Very enjoyable listen!

Kate is back and it's a killer story

Being a huge mystery fan, I can usually spot who is gonna die and who the killer is pretty early on. While I was correct that Monica was gonna die, who was guilty of what really startled me. I was so certain it was ...... well, I can't tell you who I thought or who really was guilty without ruining the surprise for others. But I didn't figure it out until just before Kate solved it.

Emmy was a lot more shrewd than I thought, the "grumpy yogini" was not who we thought, and the secret Helen is keeping was sweeter than expected. The goat rescuing lawyer was a charming shock.

Bella, Michael, Sam and Renee are familiar faces though there's suspense and mystery there too. And more than enough chaos at home despite them being gone.

I look forward to listening to more of this series in the future.
