very boring

I did not like this book at all I would not recommend it to any beginners. Find it on YouTube information that you want. Very dry I'm very monotone.

Listen to this before you even start!

Well written, insightful, and inspirational. This is a book you can keep going back to again & again and always take away something new. Shorter than your average podcasts & packed with immediate applicable advice on how to enter into the world of jui jitsu. Class still seems like and endless matrix of black holes, but this certainly provides a map and compass for your best approach through your whole journey. His other book is enjoyable as well.

Great book for mew Jiu Jitsu players.

The British accent makes it very easy to listen to, the writing would be superb no matter the content and listening really gives an early Jiu Jitsu player a conceptual framework. I have listened to it all the way through twice and I plan to listen to it three more times before the weekend is through. The less than two hour run time makes listening to it far less daunting. Well worth it!

Gave a Beginner a Conceptual Foundation

I am new to Jiu-jitsu and have learned basic movements here and there. I, however, am a "why" kind of person when learning. I need to know the what, how, and why of training to solidify it in my head and then into practice.

This book made the path to learning how to learn jiu-jitsu mentally, spiritually, and physical much clear than any mat time I've had so far.

The Hierarchy of Doninance discussed in Rule #2, Chapter 3 was especially useful, as it provided a visual explanation of guard, mount, side-control, and back and how they all relate on ascension and descension of the movements.

I enjoyed this and will keep it as a basic framework to continually refer back to!

Required reading for Jiu Jitsu students.

This book should be on every Jiu Jitsu instructors reading list. Rather than focusing on Jiu Jitsu as simply a vehicle for becoming a badass, it considers it as the path to self-mastery.

A must read for white belts.

Highly recommend this book. The book is written with the understanding and expectations of a white belt experience during his/her journey on and off the mat.
