Publisher's summary

Jiu-jitsu is more than a martial art; it is a lifestyle that promotes health, confidence, self-determination, and balance. Famed jiu-jitsu instructor Rener Gracie presents the core teachings of jiu-jitsu and explains how they can apply to all of our daily lives, including:

- The Pyramid Principle: the importance of investing in a strong foundation

- The Acceptance Principle: recognizing when it's better to yield than to resist

- The Pivot Principle: the value of changing your perspective to increase your effectiveness

- The Redirection Principle: using unfavorable circumstances to create favorable outcomes

Intended for both longtime fans and practitioners of jiu-jitsu as well as those completely unfamiliar with martial arts, The 32 Principles will help you take control of your personal and professional pursuits, supercharge your entrepreneurial spirit, and balance your relationships at work and at home.

Along with multi-award-winning author Paul Volponi, this book features contributions from more than 40 champion athletes, topflight coaches, and others who have benefited from the everyday life applications of these timeless jiu-jitsu principles.

BJJ Blue Belt Slump during the biggest Career Growth of my Life

I have had a very non linear blue belt journey and as I’m getting back to the mats and training for a half marathon, why not have BJJ while running. I never realized that I have been practicing during my hiatus as I moved to a very challenging position in my career. The 32 principles are applicable to all aspects of life and I’m excited to work on my learning and always asking questions.

The lessons, life stories, and inspirational people shared in this book is straightforward and engaging. Highly recommend.

Thank you for a powerful tool! Ossss!

Build on a Solid Foundation

This is a great book for people who want to think in concepts instead of specific techniques. The accompanying videos are a nice touch.

Problem solving in an ever changing world.

This book unlocks the potential within you by articulately giving names to the tools in your Swiss Army knife of life.

Thru inspiring stories and a wide array of profiles, Rener crafts a field manual to begin tackling any problem thrown at you… now.

I’ve had the opportunity to study the 32 principles on the mat, in hard cover form, and now reviewed again in audio format. Each having its own accolades, but this audio version, read by the author himself is a great morning mindset with a cup of coffee to set the tone for your day.

1 day at a time, 1 principle at a time. Soon you’ll find the days and principles working together in synergy weaving a life well lived.

It Works

Rener has written an easy to follow application to living and dealing with work, family, friends and what ever life throws your way. This is not just for the Jiu Jitsu practitioner but everyone can follow these 32 principles. I used it the other day when driving in LA traffic and I honked at a guy who pulled out in front of me. At the light he was angry and words were being exchanged. I thought maybe he is embarrassed by his mistake. I used the redirection principle by telling him, "just be careful man, I want you to be safe." Conflict avoided. There is even a cool QR code demonstrating a practical application. I read a lot of Self Development books and this is a must have.

Thank you Master Rener!

The book is great, I loved it, I could not put it down, honestly I finished it in 2 days, it excited me to learn more. If you want to live life with the confidence of a black belt then this book is for you because the book is filled with practical lessons that can and should be applied in every aspect of life. Master Rener uses his experience on and off the mat to drive principles as well as the experience of his family, friends, and students; a vast network of knowledge. For what it's worth, this random internet person is happy and says, "Buy this book, it will change you life for the better."

32 principals will change your life

Loved it! I loved the principals and how each of them apply to life and to jiu jitsu. Written so simple but eloquently. Rener is such a great teacher in how he breaks each principal so detailed just like he breaks down teaching jiu jitsu to the most minute but still important detail!

The first 12 chapters

Overall, I loved the book! The first 14 chapters were my favorite and then it fell off a bit. However, I loved the energy of the book and the extra interaction you got with the bonus material.

Hard to engage

Ever have an audio book you just can’t engage with? You look and realize you’ve been listening for 15 min and don’t remember anything said? This is one of those books to me. I’m i retested in the subject so I’m going to try to read it and see if I can get into it.

5 stars all day!

The book took me a little longer to read than most books, but it was so worth it. There’s a lot of golden nuggets in the book. It’s worth your time. Five stars all day.
