“A full-throttle thriller in the tradition of classic Stieg Larsson” A.J. Finn, author of The Woman in the Window

From Søren Sveistrup, creator of the hit television show, The Killing—a stylish and atmospheric thriller that follows the race to find a serial killer terrorizing Copenhagen.

A psychopath is terrorizing Copenhagen.

His calling card is a “chestnut man”—a handmade doll made of matchsticks and two chestnuts—which he leaves at each bloody crime scene.

Examining the dolls, forensics makes a shocking discovery—a fingerprint belonging to a young girl, a government minister’s daughter who had been kidnapped and murdered a year ago.

A tragic coincidence—or something more twisted?

To save innocent lives, a pair of detectives must put aside their differences to piece together the Chestnut Man’s gruesome clues.

Because it’s clear that the madman is on a mission that is far from over.

And no one is safe.

I purchased this because of a recommendation from an author I like very much. I wish I had used the credit for a different book. I figured out who the killer was pretty early in the story. It wasn't what I would consider "original". It's been done before.
It's impossible for me to know if this is how the Danish police really solve murders, or if it was mostly out of the author's imagination. Either way, it's not good.

Here's the important question: do I feel mad at myself for buying and listening to this book?
Nope. But I don't feel happy about it either.

Just Okay

I enjoyed the story a lot. I feel like about 1/4 of it could have been removed. It was a pretty creepy book though! at the narration was great.

Good but longgggg

I purchased this book as a Daily Deal but almost did not because of one review that said "It was good until it wasn't." I purchased it anyway. I never got to the part where it wasn't good. It was a good story line with good character development. The narration was spot on. I will surrender that the climax was over dramatic and improbable but it still does not put me off of the book. I primarily listen to books on my way to and from work, but I started bringing my lunch to work so I could listen through lunch also. My vote is Well Done Soren Sveistrup.

Engrossing

What a great story! I loved all the characters and couldn’t get enough. I thought it may skew a little fantasy genre for me, but not at all

I simply loved this book

Nothing earth shattering, but it is a decent mystery with interesting main characters. Good to listen to while commuting to work.

Solid
