"There was a boy once. A boy who wasn’t strong enough to save me when I was taken."

"There was a girl once. A girl called Tess Snow who sat with me in the dark, waiting to be sold. There was an owner once. An owner who bought me, entrapped me, and made me his unwilling goddess."

Eleanor Grace is a naïve dreamer. Trusting and young, she believes her travel-loving boyfriend can save her when her freedom is snatched and sold. Squirrelled away to an island at dawn, delivered to a man even darkness won’t touch, she’s bound by a contract.

Four men.

Four fantasies.

Four pieces of her soul.

Sullivan Sinclair is the giver of fantasies. Any wish, any desire - he is the master at quenching even the filthiest appetites. His private paradise and perfectly trained goddesses are there for one purpose: to ensure every guest is extremely well satisfied.

He bought her.

He trapped her.

She belongs to him.

I’m all about the series but this ended like an episode of a soap. It didn’t end in a way that one will look forward to the next book. It was so abrupt. Tears of Tess ended so much better that I looked forward to the next book but this one? I’m forced to know who was there 🙄

Cliffhanger 😡🥵

I really enjoyed this. Eleanor was a character that I was able to fall in love with. The voice that Scott Ryder did was absolutely delicious and Sarah Puckett was amazing. This duo created a steaming hot dark romance that I can’t wait to listen to again.

This is not a book or story for everyone. It’s brutal, and disturbing, a story of a woman stolen and trafficked, and the man who bought her for his goddess island that caters to the most depraved desires of the world’s riches men. Eleanor is horrified at the situation he has found herself in, and fights it every step of the way, but also finds parts of it intriguing, including the monster who bought her, Sully Sullivan. She sees him as a monster, but feels a pull towards him that makes her recoil and draw to him at the same time. And then there’s the monster, Sullivan, who buys women to “work” on his island, basically drugging them into an erotic stupor to cater to his clientele. He truly is a despicable person, and he knows what he does isn’t morally right, but he doesn’t care. When he meets Eleanor, she’s his every dream personified, and he can’t stand that she brings out these feelings in him, which he has never had before with any of the women he’s purchased. So begins the back and forth, the strong willed woman and the powerful man pushing against each other, fighting their physical attraction.

As I said, it’s a pretty horrific scenario, but that’s not tiptoed around here. We are given a couple glimpses into a more human side of Sully, and a darker side of Eleanor. I could do without the preachy vegetarian asides that are peppered in, almost used as a justification for how the women are treated. But it’s an intriguing build up, even in its brutality, and the ending left me wondering where they go from here.

Knows what it is and doesn’t shy away

I love the story, and only got the audiobook to continue it as I was going to sleep. The male leads voice was way too gruff in my opinion. It really was jarring. It belonged on a mercenary-type, a soldier/warrior. Our hero in this book is a highly sexual, vegetarian who lives on a tropical island and has more love for his parrots than humans. It’s a very simple distillation of the character, but his voice doesn’t match in my mind.

Not a fan of the hero’s voice
