How do you rate your heart?

I am trying to remove myself from the cliffhanger because I just hate them so much, especially ones that are so epic the reader can’t move on with their life. I don’t think it’s nice to the reader, but that is my opinion not a judgment on the book.

So walking away from how salty I am over that, this book was magnificent. It was a landscape painting full of vivid colors and characters that were expertly drawn up into the readers minds.

The slowest of burns, I wanted to blow on the fire and have it spread a little faster but by the end, I was grateful that I was patient and glad that the fire was still at a manageable level because now we have a month to wait for book 2 and I couldn’t take it if the fire was raging and then we had to wait.

Slightly taboo, but only for those that don’t know or read taboo. If you do, then it won’t be any skin off your back.

Hayden Bishop is one of my favorite for this age group of characters. She is just perfect. She has that tone. Will Watt was amazing too. I must say that this was a complete waste of his accent as he spoke in an American accent but it was ok because I loved it and I love him.

Nonstop Listen!!!

Excellent story! Excellent narration!! Could not put this one down!!! It should win an award!!! I listen to about five audible books a week! THIS ONE IS BY FAR THE BEST!!!

I hate to leave this review

I love Pepper's writing. I love this story. BUT, the beginning of this story damn near had me walk away. From the neglect Ren has endured, half of the thing he describes in the beginning, he would have no clue of what they are. It was so off balance and unrealistic. Narration, I can't imagine the job it takes to stay in character, however that is what a narrator is paid to do. There are a couple spots in this book where the accent is either completely different or not there at all.

With all that being said, I still truly love this story! I am dying waiting for a Girl and her Ren! If you can forgive the few miss steps, you need to listen to this story

I absolutely loved this story! I absolutely loved the narration. One of the best books I’ve listened to in a long time. Bravo Pepper Winters!

Use the right accents!

An interesting story. 3 stars. A little repetitive. 3 stars. But the thing that gives it 2 stars (too generous?) is that when a British person writes a book and uses words like “poppet,” “rucksack,” “lounge & corridor—for living room and hallway,” and a number of other words WHY are the people in the story American & SOUTHERN??? It is utterly annoying to have the combination. Some pronunciations were off as well...

Dragged after first half

I liked it at first but then it just dragged on with way too much description of Ren’s angst about his feelings for Della. Ending was abrupt even though I was glad it was over Don’t think I can stomach the sequel

My new favorite book!!

OMG, this book is one of the best books I've listened to.
This story was amazing. I felt many emotions listening to this story.
Ren and Della's story is one I will never forget. I can't wait for the next book!!!!
Please do yourself a favor and just buy it, it's a wonderful listen. The narrators did a fantastic job, making each character it's own.

Disappointed

I've read almost everyone of Pepper Winter's books. and I'm a huge fan. but this one, I struggled to finish. maybe it's that I'm a mom now. but the theme of the story was awful... it creeped me out. it was almost child pornographic. it made me sick. it started off suspenseful and pretty good. then trailed into frankly boring and gross narration of unrealistic feelings and just slowly reaching where I knew the story would end up. I'm very disappointed in this book.

Great story, characters, and FANTASTIC narrators!!

This book starts out a little differently than most of the other Pepper Winters books that I've read, and I believe I have read and listened to almost all of them, as she is one of my most favored authors. This book made laugh and cry and made me so frustrated that Ren wouldn't open his eyes. If you read it you'll see what I'm talking about, but I don't want to give away any spoilers. So, if you like a great storyline, extremely touching characters, and a hint of a forbidden romance, do yourself a very big favor and give this one a chance. You will not be disappointed!

such a good story

I've not read/listened to this author before but came across this story on goodreads, so so glad I did. The story was captivating, great main characters and luved the narrators accents. Ends on a cliff hanger, already downloaded book 2.

I loved reading this first but listening to the story was even better. A beautiful, sad and tragic story of hope .The two main characters come to life. Pepper at her best yet again.l love her books.

Addictive

I read this book when it came out and loved the story so much I wanted to listen to it on audio. This audio just brings back all the emotions I felt whilst reading.

This duo bring Pepper's words to life and do this story justice; once again I get all the feels so much so it sends shivers down my spine!

Not for the faint hearted but highly recommended

I rate this highly because of its unconventional tale which is well written from both Ren and Della's perspective. This isn't a romance as such and it certainly didnt exert sentimentality. It is raw and innocent, a coming of age story that will churn your emotions.. I'm talking rollercoaster, washing machine gut wrenching turbulence. It is rare a story will have you reevaluate your morals; I have no idea what I want for these characters or where I want them to end up. I admired Ren's work ethic and sacrifice to Della, the loss of his childhood and the trauma of his past, the passion he holds for the outdoors which he ingrained in Della.

This story is tragic as it is wholesome and joyous; tense as it is uninhibited, pure as it is tainted. This story is not black and white but a kaleidoscope of grey and I loved every bit of it and will devour the next instalment immediately.

A beautiful story

This story is unlike anything I’ve listened to before. It is so well written, so full of emotion and richness, I felt everything the characters felt from chapter 1. I love that you grew up with the characters and felt the angst so strongly as the dynamic of the relationship changed. My heart broke with them all the way to the end and I can’t wait to listen to the next book. I’ll be honest and say that the middle third of the book was a little drawn out at times but this didn’t deter me and ultimately I think it was important for understanding the developing relationship of Della and Ren. By the end I couldn’t give this any less than 5 stars. Well done, Pepper.

Best book Ever

What can i say about this book, i loved every word of it. I was especially moved by how Will M Watt portrayed Ren. I don't think any other person would have captured the character like he did. Truly amazing. If you haven't read or listened to this book, please do yourself a favor and read it. You will not be disappointed. I'd give it 100 stars if i could

Addictive

Pepper has throughly surprised me with this book. Never in my life as a reader i have come across a book like this. This story is so unusual yet so real its seems touchable, livable as if you are looking as it through binoculars or keeping a ghostly present beside Della & Ren and watching this tale unfold.. its mesmerising, enchanting, alluring & unstoppable. You just can't stop at this as you have to finish it with the next part..the experience of reading is undescribable. Just read it to have a life long experience of reading a treasure...

pure perfection

this was my first audio book and what a book !! Totally different to what I've read from Pepper Winters before, boy did she do a fantastic job, bringing all the angst and heart ache and feels to me from the start . I loved Ren and Della and can't wait to read some more.
The dual narrating was great , especially the voice of Ren , he was brought alive ,as if talking to me , 5 worthy stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It hooked me for the first word to the last. Great narration, can not wait for the next instalment.
