Story
Have you ever wondered what goes on inside a courtroom, what sort of people walk through the doors, what working justice looks like? My name is William Kennedy, and for the last three decades, I've been a judge in every type of trial court in the UK, as part of a legal career that began in 1972. With my son Thomas, I'll be revealing the details of some of the most interesting cases in which I've been a judge, the eclectic, the extraordinary mix of people I've met, and explaining critical parts of how our ancient legal justice system works. I've seen and heard things that have reaffirmed my ...

Story
Want to hear some entertaining stories but don't have a lot of time. The stories in this podcast are short and tough or short and sweet. Few exceed ten minutes, the outer limit of the average American's attention span. Simpson has been writing fiction for a long time and has perfected the short short story. Subject matter varies considerably. Sidewinder features a hip young couple who have left Silicon Valley for New Mexico where they've opened an adult toys shop, but suddenly their one-year-old is about to crawl onto the tracks of the Union Pacific. In After the Wedding, a pair of young ...

Story
So what is this Middle Class American White Boy all about? It’s sort of a memoir in verse. This second edition contains 20 stories (narratives) (poems) from some crucial or mind-expanding time in my life. The idea is to tell as much story as possible in the fewest possible words. "The Universe", for instance - my own personal War & Peace - tells the tale of my time in Argentina during the Dirty War. When I wrote the account many moons ago it topped out at almost 30,000 words. I have now reduced that same story to a narrative verse of just over 900 words.

Story
These pages host the archives for Thomas Bey-William Bailey's "Anechoic Chamber," a podcast which from 2020-2022 focused on experimental or under-represented forms of creativity, presented in an unfiltered manner and in an "audio documentary" style that diverges from the typical interview format of such shows. As of 2023, this project has been shelved indefinitely, on the basis of both personal issues and lack of response from prospective guests / participants.

This volume of poetry brings together poems throughout history with very special women. The relationship with our Mother is one of the most powerful many of us will ever feel. It rivals those with our children and partners in a way that both permeates and challenges how and on what terms we live our lives. A woman giving birth is not only bringing life into the World, she is doing so, usually, at great pain to herself.

Drawing from the idea of the cloister, we have decided to put a few cracks in these walls of separation and expose a little about ourselves. The main hosts of this podcast are both Benedictine monks and these episodes are just a random collection of our thoughts, ideas, and funny random things we do in our daily lives. Music, Movies, Religion, and many more things will be talked about in these conversations between the hosts and their guests.

Story
Once more the year begins. The first month of the Gregorian calendar. Cold winds howl, the landscape shivers, frost, snow, ice are the many blankets for the land. Daylight is thin; it arrives late and leaves early, ceding the hours to shadow and the ink of night. From the pens of our remarkable poets, including Shelley, Dickenson, Shakespeare, Whitman, Gilbran and a wealth of others, come sumptuous verse that describe our moods, feelings, travels and desires of the dawning year.

There is no bigger public health story now than the collapse in youth mental health. The numbers are terrifying and dominate our headlines. There has been much debate over how we got here, and what to do next, and bestselling author and social psychologist Jonathan Haidt is at the white-hot center of that discourse. Haidt has spent his career speaking wisdom and truth into the most difficult landscapes—communities polarized by politics and religion, campuses battling culture wars, and now the perfect storm contributing to a public health emergency for Gen Z.

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up.
