詩人。大正6年(1917)2月19日~昭和28年(1953)3月10日。大阪に父嘉一、母ステの五人兄弟の末子(三男)として生まれる。大正12年広島市の小学校に入学、一四歳の頃より詩をつくり始める。一八歳で広島県立商業学校卒業後、肺結核と診断され、ほとんど寝たきり生活となり、病床で詩、短歌、俳句をつくり、新聞・雑誌に投稿。昭和17年(1942)キリスト教の洗礼をうける。20年8月6日に原爆被災。原爆の後遺症に苦しみながら、詩作活動、文化活動をつづける。
